IMPRESSIONS: Silent Scope (GBA)

Sniping terrorists on your GBA?  Impossible?  I don't think so.

This game came out of nowhere, and to put it bluntly, it’s really cool.  The gameplay is dead-on arcade perfect, which is amazing because of the smaller screen and lack of gun to shoot with.  Enemies are easily seen on the tiny screen, even though they sometimes wear black and the background of a level is also black.  They don’t just stay in one place either, as some enemies duck behind pillars or run around a room to try to avoid fire.

Control is perfect.  A shoots, B turns off the scope view to move around quickly, and L/R slows down/speeds up the movement of the scope.  I can’t explain enough how responsive and how smooth the controls are, because they’re just flawless.  There wasn’t a single instance in when I got shot at because I couldn’t aim the gun at him due to a control problem.

This game is a winner.  Look out for this one when it’s out later this year, for sure.
