THQ NAMED TO FORBES ANNUAL 200 BEST SMALL COMPANIES LIST

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif., October 21, 2002 – THQ® Inc. (Nasdaq: THQI) today announced that it has been named to Forbes Magazine's 2002 Best Small Companies list. The only videogame publisher included in the publication's annual list, THQ's five-year average return on equity, profitability and performance relative to the market were recognized. The Company was ranked number 69 of the 200 companies listed.


Companies qualified for consideration were public companies with latest-12-month sales of $5 million to $600 million, a stock price above $5 per share, five-year average return on equity of at least 5%, net margin profitability of at least 5%, in addition to relative stock price strength – companies performing well relative to their peers and the market indexes.
