TalkBack / RE:Revolution Eschews High Definition

And the fact that the 'cube launched without a true mario game, and when the next mario flagship title finally was realesed it was arguably the worst of the entire 7 game franchise (which means it was still really good), and the fact the gamecube was the last console to be released (over one year after the PS2!), and the fact it was the only one that could never play DVDs, aannddd the fact Nintendo, bless their silly souls, played right into their I LOVE HALO 2 image curse by showcasing the console as a bright purple lunchbox and then presented a cell-shaded Zelda (Windwaker rocked, but we're talking about image here not reality) aaaannnnddd the fact the GBA conn. never really materilized into anything big, aanndddddd the fact that they never released another Eartbound game , all contributed to the 'cube's basement housing.

Perhaps the Revolutionary component of Nintendo’s next system has absolutely nothing to do with the interaction and presentation of games to the player. What if the radical change is the interaction and presentation of games towards game developers? Think about it, what is the number one problem with contemporary game development? It's the reality that to make a decent product like Half-Life 2 or Windwaker on today's high-tech machines require unprecedented quantities of time, talent, and most importantly money. Shiguru Miyamoto programmed Donkey Kong like by himself in a few days I believe, Half-Life 2 took 6 @#$!&* years! Think of how many copies Value most move before they begin to see a return on HL2. Perhaps Nintendo is creating a system that revolutionizes how games are programmed. Making it vastly quicker and easier and cheaper to make a high quality game. The shackles that currently repress developers would be lifted and they would finally be able to truly explore the possibilities that next-gen technology could hold! Now that would be revolutionary! Also such a move would fit with Vexx's most accurate description of Nintendo “You forget how conservative Nintendo is….. They want to remain an all ages company and remain profitable without great risk” so much more so than VR gaming or even an all new controller. Also it would eliminate Nintendo's most serious problem from the last two generations, the lack of 3rd party support. Programming games would be so simple and cheap that only an idiot wouldn't port the latest PC or PS3 hit towards the Rev.
Anyway I would really like to see what you all think about this. I know very little about the specifics of game development, I'm just throwing something at the wall and seeing if it sticks. (And I'm really tired of great multi-platforms games not being released on the 'cube)

I realize that Mario has vastly superior mainstream recognition than the Zelda franchise and has historically out-preformed it in sales I merely reasoned that due to the fact that Windwaker was seen as such a superior product to SMS in the eyes of a majority of publications and hardcore fans (myself included) and operating under the assumption that a large contingent of Gamecube owners are hardcore fanboys such as myself who actually pay attention to what other gamers or organizations feel about a game instead of just rushing out and purchasing 8 zillion copies of Enter the Matrix or MoH: RS, as they have been known to do, that Link would finally one-up Mario. Must be those darn kids out there inflating SMS sales! Though we probably couldn't make it without them

Cloud Strife thanks for the Top 10 list, who'd of thought that Sunshine would outsell WindWaker (even if it was released earlier) and that Starfox Adventures would crack the Top 10! I bet Eternal Darkness didn't even crack the top 50, proving yet again that quality isn't always everything (or in some cases, not even computed into the equation!)

Say Cloud Strife you wouldn't happen to be able to post the exact sales numbers every month would you? An
all-time sales list post for the site would be extremely useful as well.
