TalkBack / RE:NOA Confirms Japanese DS Lineup
« on: August 03, 2004, 06:51:55 PM »
Man. Why does Nintendo have to keep concocting ways of stealing my money? They know I can't resist a handheld Viewtiful Joe game.

Better start saving up. :/

I'd get a Nintendo DS just for some Mystical Ninja action. Harvest Moon DS sounds like a fantastic idea too.

Fun game, but I'm not liking the one-hit deaths. Has potential though.

You can't spell "damn sexy" without DS.

I'm loving the sleek new look.

I look forward to seeing Thunderbirds stashed in the back of my local EB next to unsold copies of the Deer Hunter, the Dukes of Hazard game and Shaq-fu.

Radiostorm: What would you be doing in an online Zelda game? Run around slaughtering moblins until you level up?

I always figured a PSO type game would fit Zelda fairly well. Pick a race (goron/hyrulean/zora/etc.) a class (melee/ranged/caster/etc.) and battle through different levels with your friends picking up loot and snagging experience. Zelda has always had great battle mechanics; they could build on it a lot for online play.

That's a pretty abstract idea though. Four Swords online would be more sensible. And practical too, since they game wouldn't be ruined if one player had to leave (as happens so often in online games). Other players could take control of the odd-Link-out easy-peasy using formations.

"CN: Any plans for an Online Zelda in the future?"

If Nintendo announced an online Zelda game I would require a change of pants.

I'm not surprised. Making realistic graphics is a pretty straight-foward process. Cel-shading involves a lot of programming on the side to make it work.

Very cool. The indoor/outdoor use of the GBA/gamecube in the first Four Swords will translate nicely onto the two screens of the DS.

All these colours of Gamecubes...they're like iMacs!

I'm hoping Nintendo ditches the cheesy jewel colours and makes Pokemon "black" and "white."

The DS has the ideal set-up for online games; one screen for ability/communication/equipment management, the other for actual gameplay. Not making any first-party online games is a waste of potential. :/

I had all but given up on seeing this title released in North America. Can't wait to get it in my greedy little hands.

I'm not going to pass judgement until I play it, but what is with everything being based on cards these days? Is it just another game developers fad, like monster-hunting games after Pokemon came out? I'm sick of it.

TalkBack / RE:Pokemon Emerald Revealed
« on: July 12, 2004, 06:36:31 PM »
Nothing to get excited about. Emerald will be practically identical to Ruby/Saphirre, which were remarkably similar to Gold/Silver, which were clones of Red/Blue.

Give me something new Nintendo. I have a Gamecube and online adaptor sitting in my basement begging for a Pokemon game.

Those game-pushing things that Starmen.net pulls are a nice thought but they've never really accomplished anything. I frequented that community for years and didn't see much payback asides from the occasional acknowledgement from Nintendo that Mother/Earthbound fans do indeed exist. Weak.

But yeah, you're probably right. With the Mother 1+2 collection released in Japan there's no chance for a Mother 1 to be a Famicom Mini game.

Oh well. I still have my old Earthbound cart to keep be amused.

Woohoo! Kid Icarus is finally getting some love.

I know it's next to impossible, but I'm still hoping Nintendo adds Mother 1 to the classic NES line-up.
