Metroid 1 is worth playing only for it's historical value.

I only got an NES seven or eight years ago as I didn't have one as a kid.  Metroid was one of the first games I bought and I figured it was really dated.  I actually really enjoyed it.  At one point I had to look up a map online to get out of a repetitive section of Norfair but I felt it was still really playable and fun.  Another part of it that's cool is playing with the password system.  You can't do that with the other games.  These days you can find password generators online so you can really customize things to tweak the game to work as you like.

I'm a bad Metroid fan.  I enjoyed both Other M and the original Metroid II as-is.
If you want to be a true bad fan, then you gotta like Federation Force.

I finally got around to watching some of the treehouse footage.  The trailer for this was a little too action focused.  It reminded me a little too much of Other M's gameplay.  Watching the treehouse footage though really sold me on this.  When you see someone playing the game from the start like they would play a typical Metroid game you can see that they look like they're getting it right!

I find the whole "well you got 2 new Metroid games so now you have to play FF" guilt trip pretty amusing. As if the existence of two new games will suddenly make the last one any better.

I like Federation Force myself. It was fun. :)
