Nintendo Gaming / Gameboy Advance SP in Europe.
« on: July 25, 2003, 06:50:06 AM »
Or just order a UK AC adapter.  I purchased my SP in London when it was released back in March or April (I forget), and now that I'm back in New York, I just purchased a US AC Adapter.  They're interchangable on the SP.

Nintendo Gaming / the GBP/GC bundle to put the nail in xbox coffin?
« on: May 22, 2003, 07:27:32 AM »
If anything, I think the bundle might give the view that the Cube is even more of a "kiddie" machine, as, in the eyes of the general public,  the GBA and many of its games seem targeted at a younger audience.

This isn't Grand Theft Mario

When Gran Turismo starts letting you jump out of your car and hijack an opponents car then I'll think about your idea being plausible

Gran Turismo is realistic...Mario Kart most certainly isn't.  I think it would be really cool to hop Karts mid race.  Not the first player, but the person attached to the back.

On the flip side, I find it absurd that so many people here seem to be mindlessly praising Nintendo for so much "innovation", when they haven't even played it either.  Whatever, we'll see if the game is good when it comes out.

IGN Preview 23rd April

I Agree.  I havent played it, but it seems to be missing the magic of the original mario kart.  It doesn't even look like a Kart game.

How cool would it be if you could knock the second played OUT of the competitors Kart and hijack that kart!  Now we're talking strategy and fun!!!

Am I the only one who is disappointed?  When they said they couldn't show screen shots, I thought it would be something much cooler than double person karts.  And no internet play?  Only LAN?  LAN is weak.  Not too impressed.

Nintendo Gaming / Sales???
« on: April 23, 2003, 12:51:23 AM »
How come no word has come out about the US Sales figures for Windwaker?  After all that presale hooplah, I would have figured there'd be a million sale announcement by now.  Anyone have any figures on the sales?

General Chat / Marshmallow Peeps
« on: April 22, 2003, 07:25:47 AM »
Peeps are the most heavenly thing ever.  I have been known to consume a whole box in one sitting.

I had a friend send me some from the states, and I brought them into work one day a few weeks ago (I work in London now).  Everyone in the office was terrified of them - they thought they were toxic or something (the verdict is still out on that one!)  Anyway, after a taste, a few of them are now converted Peep fans!

You can actually take a tour of the Just Born factory in Bethlehem.  Haven't done it, but I've been to Bethlehem.

Speaking of Cadbury eggs, you can get them year round in the tube stations, three for £1!

General Chat / What was your first exposure to gaming?

Vectrex baby...I can still remember being at my grandmas and my cousin handing me a big shopping bag filled with a vectrex and games.  He was upgrading to a NES.    There were the power outages and heat waves in NYC that summer, and I remember lying there, just waiting for the power to come back so I could get a game of scrambler or bezerk in on the vectrex.  Even my mom played that thing with us...ahhh the memories.  ::sheds a tear:::  Still have the old thing, with about 6 or 7 games.  Works perfectly!

I also remember Thanksgiving 1989 where the same cousin strutted in with a game boy and mario land.  I bugged my mom the whole night that I needed one for christmas.  When christmas arrived, I opened every present.  A gameboy, but no Mario Land.  I was crushed.  Turns out "santa" forgot about some of the toys.  My mom ran outside and threw them on the front porch, then said "look, santa must have dropped them on the way in!"  Awww yeah, Mario Land was the sweetest game ever back then.  Now you're playing with portable power!

Nintendo Gaming / Hitting the sound with my index finger
« on: April 14, 2003, 12:05:15 AM »
Does anyone else inadvertently slide the sound bar up when they're hitting the L button?  I'll be playing in a quiet room and then all of a sudden the sound will go way up!  It's very, very annoying and one of the only main flaws I found with the system.

I was sitting right behind Alan Rickman at the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square a few weeks ago.  I guess he likes hitting up the theatre.  Everyone kept saying "look!  Its the professor!".  I'm sure he was annoyed.

Nintendo Gaming / Game Shortages
« on: March 26, 2003, 05:05:08 AM »
Remember back in the NES days when nintendo would purposely control how many copies of a game were released to up the demand?  Do you think that would work now with the Gamecube or not because gamers have so many other options?  Just curious....

Nintendo Gaming / Buying SP in UK, Bringing it home to the states???
« on: March 25, 2003, 11:33:59 PM »
Hi -

If I buy an SP here in London, will I be be able to plug in a US power cord to it when I go home?  Is the adaptor hole on the back of the unit the same size for the UK and US plugs?  Thanks for your help.
