Nintendo Gaming / Re: Zombi U, I'm warming up to it

The name of the game should be changed from Zombi U to Zomwii U.

Get it? :)

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Get it?

I was down on the Wii U at first, but seeing impressions of such games like Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, Rayman Legends, Project P-100, and Nintendo Land made me interested.

Project P-100 is the one game that has really peaked my interest.  In this time of muddy brown action games that feature a glut of quick-time-events, shallow characters and uber scripted Micheal Bay-type moments, it's nice to see a colorful, quirky experience.  Platinum games is quickly becoming one of my favorite developers.

Sorry ol' chap, but I'm going to bitch all I want.  This year's E3 was terrible all around I just think Nintendo's was the most disappointing.  They let me down (yeah, I know, they aren't putting on a show just for little ol' me) with a lackluster line-up for the Wii U's launch window.  As of right now I have to plans to purchase one but I certainly see the potential of the controller...I just want to see a game that really blows my mind in it's implementation, which is something I never experienced with the Wii.

I have little-to-no interest in this game. I'm sure it will be well-polished but I can't stand how easy the New Mario series is.  It's almost a joke.

Give me some old school difficulty that makes me want to break my controller Nintendo.

F*ck it! Let's get a proper Spaceworld before launch. I think they need to beef up the horsepower now and be able to at least get the multiplatform support in the next generation as well. We can have the best of both worlds this next go. No specs released and I'm hoping this why. Is it final?

If the console is coming out this, there is no way they can amend the specs now.

So basically what this tells me is my worst fears came true:  they had to have gone out of their way to produce such a dated piece of hardware.  What a waste/shame.  I really thought the Wii U would redeem Nintendo in my eyes for home consoles.   There's no way I'll be suckered into buying another dated console just because of a unique controller.

Worst conference I have seen in YEARS.

I expected Nintendo to convince me that buying a Wii U would be worth my time and as of right now I have absolutely no plans to buy one.

Jesus Christ it was awful

Might as well remove Metro Last Light from the list.

Just because the Dev kits have improved doesn't mean they've improved by enough to allow Unreal 4. I guess we will just have to wait and see (and hope).

Well if the Wii U can do graphics like the Samaritan demo then I have no issues.  I mean, really, how much better can UE4 look?  It certainly wont be a night and day difference like it was from 2 to 3.

10
And also at GDC they had the E3 2011 Wii U models.  They wouldn't make the effort of announcing such a distinction if something hadn't changed.

11
I'm not sure why you guys are surprised/worried.  Keighley just confirmed some old news.  Besides, we've seen multiple rumors that the dev kits have been progressively better.

12
Normally I'm very lazy, but I'm also bored, so to remedy that I de-hideoused your text for you.

Thank you my kind sir ;D .

Oops sry for the font color and bad format.  I'm too lazy to remedy the issue, so...

based on the IBM 710 Express chip- underclocked at 3 GHz- comes with 4 cores and 8 threads- 20X faster than the chip found in the Wii- made by IBM and is based on their POWER 7 architecture- built on 45nm- the standard has 6 cores and runs at speeds of up to 3.7 GHz- 710 Express chip can also execute 4 threads per core at the same- Nintendo has scaled this down for Wii U- threads per core will go down from 4 to 2- roughly ?around 50% more powerful than current gen systems

Does anyone think that Nintendo will launch the Wii U in multiple colors? Honestly, if the Wii U just launches in white then I will pass because I prefer a black Wii U.

You would pass on a console you want merely because the color doesn't please you?

Srong wit chu?

Can someone direct me to the page/topic with the rumors consolidated?

17
What, are you rich or something? $300 is pretty pricey.

No.  The price of the PS3 at launch (which I bought day one) was pricey.  $300 is very nice price for a new console IMO.

18
Wait, am I crazy or did Nintendo not say that the Wii U would likely be a pricey console?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't exactly view $300 as pricey.

The rumor says the Wii U would be at LEAST $300, meaning that is the lowest it would possibly be. And $300 is not cheap.

Sites iSuppli are interesting, though some people think that the manufacturing costs are the only expenses. As others pointed out, you have to add in money for the retailer, shipping costs, advertising costs, etc.

I know dis, mister. -.-

I was just wondering if someone can confirm Ninty making any comments on the price of the Wii-U.

Honestly, I've never experienced a loading time on the Wii that's been too tedious- Brawl has had a couple instances of just taking a little bit, and one or two games like Sonic Unleashed and maybe Monster Hunter- but I've enjoyed good load times on just about everything.

I mean, if there's a competitive aspect to selling game units, then load times are going to be minimized as much as possible. But for now, with the current technology, load times are just something we'll have to deal with. I'm playing Xenoblade right now and sweet jeebas, that game has very little loading times.

And it's all the more impressive when you consider the scale of Xenoblade and it's level of graphical detail (and not "considering it's a Wii game", no, the game is just genuinely pleasing to the eyes)

i believe the PS3 had 1x or 2x Blu Ray disc drive that was CLV (slows down towards the outer edges to maintain a constant data read speed on the inner and outer parts of the disc).

Nintendo's BDR-based drive will likely be atleast 6x and a CAV drive on top of that, which I think means it will always spin the same speed, meaning it will have faster read times at the outer portions of the disc.

So I don't think the load times will and issue... atleast not like on PS3 * X360 this gen

I don't expect it to be an issue either.  I remember being very pleased with the load times on the GC and the Wii shared the same attribute.

The only thing I worry about hardware wise on the Wii-U is the hard drive or lack thereof.  Anything less then 20GB standard would be very disappointing IMO. (and, to be honest, I expect something like 8GB of  internal flash memory)

I'm not techie, but to me it sounds like Nintendo is planning a Fixed Function and Programmable Shader hybrid beast of a GPU.

It's raw specs may not wow us, but it's output should more than get the job done.
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1634440&postcount=833

I think 3DS shares the same design of Fixed/Programmable shaders on the GPU.

Someone needs to elaborate on this so a tech newb like myself can better understand.

I just watched some Star Tropics videos for the first time (the game was a little before my time) and it looks like a LoZ/Earthbound mesh.  Witch is amazing.  I'm gonna buy it from VC right now.

Excellent stuff, BlackNMild.

Also, I hope you don't mind, but I sometimes post your rumors finds at gamespot.com.  Of course, I always give you credit. ;)

Help us OBnM Kenobi! You're our only hope.

Just terrible.  You should be ashamed of yourself.
