We explore the inner workings of Nintendo's DLC set-up!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/blog/29270

Yesterday we told you all about the first batch of DLC for Tobidasu Print Club Kiradeco Revolution, a photo booth application on the Nintendo eShop in Japan. The application has a range of 2D and 3D tools to make your own crazy photo creations. There are popping 3D backgrounds, a range of stickers and everything to make the image of your dreams or nightmares.

To access the DLC, you go to the collection section of the app and then to the parts shop, and it begins by scanning your SD card. All of your content is stored in this matter and it double checks to see if you have anything of note in your folders. Once it is done with the scanning process, you will find three sections. One for the shopping section, one for putting in specific 16-digit codes, and the last one is for opening an eShop overlay to add funds to your account. In the past you could only add funds through the Shop Channel on Wii.

By clicking the shopping button, you will see downloadable packs of stickers and backgrounds. In the app's case, each pack will set you back 100 Yen a pop. By clicking a certain item, a new eShop overlay appears giving you the usual purchase information like cost and block size. After giving a final okay your purchase will be confirmed and percentage bar will start to do its thing. It must be noted that this DLC can't be downloaded in the background and it will ask you to not turn off your system or remove the SD card. It isn't too much of an issue though, as the downloading speed is on par with downloading something small on the eShop. Once the progress is completed, the DLC will find its way into the game automatically and you will able to manage it through the DLC section of the memory settings.

The system seems from first impressions very solid and snappy, but we will reserve final judgement for when Theatrhythm Final Fantasy becomes available. Feel free to see it in action in the video below!

I have a question. If you're using a credit card to pay for the Japanese DLC, or any other downloadable applications in the Japanese eShop, do you have to use a Japanese bank account? Or will any other bank account work?
