Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS Player for Wii.. would it make sense?
« on: February 05, 2007, 04:41:52 AM »
Hmm granted the Wii is powerful enough to do emulate a DS they could just add the DS games to the vc library... the Wiimote would act as a stylus replacement (= the buttons arent used), the only new hardware needed would be a new attachment for the wiimote, one that is espcially designed for playing DS games.. with one hand..  though I can't think of such a design right now..

Ah well, I get your point... a stylus with buttons (= wiimote) would be pretty hard to use...

Hmm wouldn't it be sufficient to determine wheter or not the wiimote points somewhere into the lower half of the screen? I mean.. the Wiimote could be used the same way as the stylus is used on the DS .. the mic would be missing though.. maybe they could deliver a headset along with the device to solve this issue.. is there anything else I forgot?...

Nintendo Gaming / DS Player for Wii.. would it make sense?

After reading the article about the greatest gamecube hardware it struck me that from all the "old" systems the Wii is supporting (NES, SNES, N64, Megadrive/Genesis, Turbografix and the cube for those who forgot ;-) ), one is obviously missing -> there's no way to play gameboy games.. now one could argue that Nintendo doesn't want to cut it's own sales for GB games (especially since the DS is still what it has always been ) but since there's been a gameboy player for SNES and the cube.. isn't it only a matter of time till it wil be announced for the Wii? I mean.. the Wii could even play DS games! (DS Games!!!!) The announcement of a gameboy player that would allow to play DS games on the Wii would be the argument to immediately convince me in buying one (haven't done so yet cause, except for Zelda, there aren't exactly a lot of games out yet, that I'd consider worthy of my hard earned cash ;-) )
What do you folks think, any chances for this to come true?

Somehow I'm looking forward to more news about this game.. I mean.. using the wii-mote as a wand, throwing curses and the like at unexpecting fellow students and such sounds fun, doesn't it? Maybe there's even a duell mode or something like that =D

@KnowsNothing, I was referring to Ceric's comment.. being able to hear Link's fairy speaking to you through the wiimote and being able to answer her without sacrificing buttons would be fun :-) "Link Link, I want to show you someth.." -"Leave me alone already will ya? Nasty little..." ^^ ok, I doubt they would implement oice recognition that would go farther than translating some simple sentences but even this would be fun =D

Too bad there haven't been any reports about such a feature being in TP yet =/ ... if there was also some sort of mic integrated into the remote you could even speak to your fairy, give it some simple commands and the like... is there a mic? I don't remember and I'm too lazy to look it up right now ^^

Nintendo Gaming / Possibilities of the Remotes Speaker

Well, there have been some complaints about the speaker being one of the final secrets of the wii and I agree that technically it isn't a big thing but nevertheless I think it has potential.
For example.. imagine you are playing some sort of horror game (you remember this certain wii add with a guy and a girl using the controller like flashlights?).. the room is dark, perhaps you're playing in the late hours of the day.. and you're all alone in your living room. The game is kinda like project zero (which you should know if you like horror games) ... so you explore some eerie building or dungeon... the tension almost drives you mad as you know there most be *something* dangerous around here... launching itself at you at any moment.. and all of the sudden one of those japanese killer girl spirits starts whispering "I didn't want to kill..." and things like that.. and the sound is right next to you.. for it originates from your controller .. I think I would throw the thing as far away as I .. cursing the developers while at the same time thanking them for the good shock ^^.

Or another idea -> imagine you're playing a little girl in a dark eerie fantasy world (does anyone remember American Mc Gee's Alice?) and you have a teddy bear or something similiar as you companion and friend. The two of you have to get into that certain room over there, but theres that ugly guard... what to do??.. Distraction is the key =D you hide your teddy bear somewhere to lure the guard away from the door when you give him a signal.. this scenario would be even better if you assume there is some sort of dolby sound system connected to the wii... so you could put your remote some feet away from you, hear your teddy trying to get the attention of the guard and while you try to sneak in unseen you can hear the guard getting closer to your teddy/remote so you can estimate how long it will take him to come back...

I admit, these ideas might be a bit too complex but I hope you see that there are indeed some funny ways to incorporate the remotes speaker into gameplay. C&C welcome =)

Some people here seem to be kind of disappointed because they think there will only be 10 scenes of the game rather than a complete remake...  please correct me if I'm wrong about this but what I read at the projectsite (when it was still up and running) was something like: we will make a "complete" remake of the game and are planning to release a game demo containing 10 scenes around fall 2004. so what we will get IS a complete remake, with 10 scenes coming up in a demo at the end of this year, right?
