TalkBack / RE: Unreal Engine 3 in Development for Wii

He keeps on mentioning Ubisoft...oh that's right they used the Unreal Engine 2 for Red Steel!

Are they possibly using Unreal Engine 3 for Red Steel 2?? Hm....

Ok...fair enough. You got me there. But seriously, Wii Fit?? I'll probably buy it because of the board but really...I don't know. Miyamoto is supposedly announcing a new IP and if that new IP is a god damn casual game then...something bad will happen, probably.

Yeah I'm pretty sure there were pros and cons. You got something good in exchange for slower frame rates.

It's a realistic stealth game...what do you expect really? And in Zack and Wiki apparently there are even levels that take hours to complete and if you lose you start all over again.

But anyway, I'm kind of hoping that he doesn't really mean that "hardcore games are pointless" which is what I'm pretty much getting from this. And I don't like his generalization.

Quote

"While there are indeed games designed for core and casual markets," Miyamoto says, "core users are also enjoying casual gaming. It is very hard to tune the difficulty just for the core market. Even for us, we would still have difficulty finding the right balance. But I think the future is games that are not difficult and yet very fun to play."

To some extent yes but if I had a choice (which we're not getting...really, WiiFit?) I'd pass on casual games. But I guess that's just me. Wii Sports was great yes but would I have bought it if it was a separate game? No...see my problem is what is a casual game? Could you call Guitar Hero a casual game? Because to Nintendo casual games are stuff like...Brain Age, Wii Fit, Face Training (?!!)...

Hey it's Perrin! I hope she stays with Nintendo. She's been with them for quite a long time already.

This whole thing didn't really bother me that much. They were going to do it eventually. No one could be that stupid...

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap is still my favorite Zelda. So yeah 2D is just fine with me really.

Sonic...I've lost hope that a good game will come out. His only chance is appearing in Smash Bros. It's completely retarded if he doesn't appear.

Argh the clock!

The demos are alright...but until they give us something juicy (Little Big Planet, Metal Gear etc.) it's pretty much meh. Heavenly Sword doesn't count just because.

Your character survives a crash landing in the middle of the Atlantic ocean and manages to swim to a lighthouse that is oddly sticking out in the middle of the sea. Inside is a small one-man bathysphere that takes you to Rapture. Rapture is a city made by an ex-Soviet citizen who created a super-capitolist city on the ocean flor encased in a huge glass dome. The city is spawling and filled with 50s-era sttyled buildings, but when you arrive it's in ruins. One of the focal points of the game is a substance called "Adam". It's a mutagen made from a sea slug that secretes pure stem cells. The question is this: How much of your humanity will you give up for power?

Gameplay terms, it's a sci-fi horror FPS with many ways to achieve an objective.

Yeah I saw his 15min video and the developer was just playing the same level over and over again. While that is cool (VERY cool infact)...the longetivity of this game worries me. It's like, they're spending so much time on ONE level. I don't know. I still won't be able to get it anyway, computer is crap and I don't have a 360 (and man do I want one...).

Hey anyone's a likely candidate. Snake would have been the last person I would have guessed to be in the game. But voila there he is. Anyone could be in it for all we know. Speculate and be happy!!

* TV Guides, or Cinema booking channels.
* Blockbuster or Netflix rental channels.
* Imagine the Oprah Channel, where you can get easy access to Oprah's content.
* CNN or BBC could offer their services in a channel. Custom built for easier access than going to a Web browser and WiiConnect24 support.
* iTunes channel. Integrate with your iTunes library, with visualisers etc
* Encyclopaedia Brittanica channel and other educational channels.
* Tele-schooling channels.
* Barney or Play School
* Sports guides and scores channel - or a channel for your favourite team(s).
* Hardware integration. This will be the best way to entrench Wii into the home - when manufacturers start integrating with Wii like home security systems, Wii Tivo channel to control your Tivo etc.

Woah slow down there buddy!! iTunes?? Rental movie channels? Hardware integration? This is Nintendo we're talking about. They won't even give us a damned harddrive. How are you supposed to fit your songs on the Wii?? Hell you can't even play a song on it yet! Sure this might happen but not in the next five years...

Wow this game looks amazing!! Look how crisp and colourful those screenshots are!! And anything that's like Monkey Ball is a winner in my books so this game is like GOLD. It's just the sounds that worry me...no not the music, that's cool. It the WEEEE's and AAA's...but those are just minor worries anyway.
