Great news. Good for both Nintendo and the Splatoon online community. Hope they can maintain an active online player base as long as they can.

I personally don't give a **** but I suppose it's never a bad thing to give people who do an option. Now give us a release date, would you?

I still don't get why people are so upset about the 2-version thingy. If I'm paying $40 for a game (the black version in this case), what I should be concerned with is whether it has $40 worth of content; it does not matter to me whether there's another white version, or grey version, or whatever color versions. Does one version justifies a $40 purchase? Do two versions justifies somewhere between $52-55 (presumably one path on retail and the other on DLC)? We DO NOT know yet, so why are we so eager to start complaining ahead of time? The Japanese release is in just a few days' time, why not wait until we have a better idea of the amount of content then start judging?

For me personally, I'm buying the black version and I'm perfectly fine with the fact that there exists another "white" version to serve whomever prefers that, as long as my black version has enough content. I'm likely going to spend 40-50 hours for one game, and that is a huge amount of my time so I'm not sure I wanna throw in another 30ish for another path which features similar (or exactly the same?) mechanism. Why is being offered options a bad thing?

The 3rd path DLC on the other hand, is what I'm actually concerned with from the beginning until now. If it is what I think it is, the supposedly best path, like the "Woohoo you know what, you didn't save the world, you screwed it up. You killed all these awesome characters that could have been saved and joined your cause" kind of best path? Then I could be legitimately pissed, but until we know that for sure (I hope I guess wrongly of course), I will refrain from complaining just out of my baseless assumptions.

Wow, that Code Name S.T.E.A.M. number. While hardly a surprise, it certainly is disheartening :-\ . Guess Intelligent Systems will never get to independently make new IPs anymore (maybe Code Name Steam was a reward to them for the success of FE: Awakening in the first place); they will make FE games till the end of time…

Lame and uninspiring game selection as expected. That’s just a lazy and cowardly move that serves absolutely no purpose in promoting their current games which desperately need attention. And don’t get me started on the miserable inclusion of only 8 sites. All these and the short notice in advance make me believe that it was all just a last minute thing. It is like,
“We've got not enough stuffs for E3, what can we use as fill-ins?”
“How about a half-assed NWC?”
“Great idea.”

Anyway, that said, I’m still hoping that the actual tournament at E3 will feature more relevant games like some of you are suspecting.

"...revives party members the turn after their death..."

I would strongly suspect there is translation mistake here; I guess the source would have meant "next map" rather than "next turn" which makes absolutely no sense at all.

Well, I really don’t see a problem here; actually, I consider this to be a very good idea if the white and black paths are really that different from each other as described, representing Awakening and old school FEs respectively. Given how divided the FE fans, old and new are, with some criticizing on how grindy Awakening is and others on the old ones being inaccessible, doesn’t it make sense to give both camps the options to choose from? Instead of paying say $50 for a gigantic game with portion I don’t like, why not pay just $40 for a standard-length game in which I enjoy every bit? For my case, I will just buy the black version and not bother with the white. Yes, I may buy the “3rd path” DLC that is supposedly the “best” path, provided it is actually good. The point is, if I enjoy the main game then paying $15 for another 60%-80% extra contents isn’t that bad.
