Agreed.  Who the heck could they find to take Iwata's spot that wouldn't immediately say "screw home consoles, we're a 3rd party iOS developer now!"

Call me crazy, but I was super hyped about LittleBigPlanet... until I played it.  Mario Maker won't interest me until there is an active community making good levels... and then only if Nintendo nails level curation and makes sharing and those levels.


I don't expect much.... and if this is Miyamoto's new 3DS IP...

@azeke frankly I am fine with those options as well as long as
a) they scale the mario release schedule waaaaaaaaay back
b) put the brakes on the New Super Mario series.  Get that team working on anything but New Super Mario

I think the level at with balloon fight is regarded (it always seems to be regarded higher than it deserves) has something to do with the fact that Iwata (the man running the show) designed it.

I didn't know that.  Now that you mention it, that might be why Sakurai is given such extraordinary latitude and kirby is so prominant.  Iwata's HAL love runs deep it seems.

Considering the venue, I think a major new trailer for Smash Brother is definitely in the works.  Among the 'hardcore' there is a lot of love for Smash even if Melee was better than Brawl.


I can't tell you how many times on sites like The Verge I've read, "I'm waiting for Smash till I get the Wii U."


If it were up to me, I'd want a Metroid game.  I want a real (i.e. not Other M) Metroid game so bad I can taste it.

I somehow managed to snag a yellow one (all others were sold out at the time) and when I went back to the Club Nintendo homepage the cradle was 'sold out'.
