General Gaming / Recommendations needed: XBox360 fell into my hands
« on: August 19, 2015, 05:36:40 AM »
Hi guys,

I've never owned a non-Nintendo device. (SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, DSlite, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU) But now a 360 has been given to me (one Controller, Kinect, 3gb flash drive, I attached a 300gb drive to it that the WiiU did not want).

I'm really not sure what are good games for the 360 even though I have heard all the new Business on RFN over the last few years. Most shooters and the general bleak and grey aesthetics of most games do not interest me. I've downloaded a lot of demos (2,4wifi super slow).

What I've liked in the past years:
Runner 1 and Runner 2
Wii Sports
New Super Mario Brothers U
Super Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Need for Speed Most Wanted
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Assassin's Creed 3
Boomblox
Prince of Persia for Wii
Super Mario Galaxy 1&2

also I put serious hours into Telltale's Walking Dead on the iPad

I'm interested in:
Fifa & PES
Forza Horizon 1&2
Indie Games
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles: Out of the Shadows

A few pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Are the videos posted in the chronological order as they were recorded? Thanks for the great RFN400, already listened to the episode and watched the videos with Greg and Shovel Knight.

I listened to a way different podcast that is not of comedic nature and about a different subject. Even though the guys are clearly experts on their fied I couldn't help but compare the two podcast and RFN is just in another league. The mailbag discussions were so deep and rich. Stellar episode.

And James, your way from a slightly annoying guy on your first appearance to the comedic master of this podcast has been awesome. You have been on a roll for the last months. Maybe it is just creativity building up while Jon is gone...

Yeah Red Velvet was astonishing. I could hardly believe it was real, I lost it when Karl admitted he continued working there for two more months.

yup, this really took it over the top

I've said my piece about Greg on the last thread, so I want to express my gratitude to the entire staff for making this a truly remarkable and emotional episode.

And I fuckin laughed so hard when Jon said "what about me, it's the podcast people"...

I was very sad to hear that Greg has decided, albeit it makes sense, to leave RFN in full capacity. I always felt that it was a tremendous task to do this from here in Europe. His editing skills have been so superb that I mentioned the composition of chapters, content and chapter images in a paper on podcasts. I think we will really miss him and his humor. I hope one day he can make it to PAX or E3 to meet with the guys or someone goes to visit him in person.

I would really like the occasional appearance of him as Guest Star or Returning Champion. Greg has often alluded that he is a very boring person outside of podcasting and gaming and I never believed him. Godspeed in what you'll do in the future, Mr. Leahy.

I hope he will appear on Box Office Poison, Discover Music Project or Radio Trivia in the future. Or on episode 300/the next marathon.

Thanks for your great work.

The RFN staff predicts that you can easily walk into any bigger retail store and get one on launch day.

Another stellar episode. I don't even know where to begin praising you guys again. Only lacks some Lindemann. Otherwise it has everything, Greg's stellar new business discussions, downplaying his private life by talkign about editing on a  Saturday night and another action movie reference, Disaster talk, James' life-consuming gaming habits and him dropping the big stylus and Jonny's in-depth explanations on his left-field choices. Very Nintendo-centric as well.
Hope you guys never stop...

Nintendo Gaming / Wii/Gamecube Game with great interactive storytelling
« on: December 20, 2011, 12:12:09 PM »
Hi guys, I really need your help on this one. I am writing a paper on interactive narratives and storytelling. I wanted to write it in a more theoretical and broad way but my prof thinks otherwise. She wants me to pick apart one single game.
The easy choice would be something like Heavy Rain, but for the next month or so I will only have access to my Wii and I am determined to use a Wii or Gamecube game in the discussion.

So which game would you guys pick, I don't care if it is Wii, Gamecube or WiiWare (haha). Shoot away, please.

I would be great if Greg could read out some of the best Fake Leahy Tweets of your choice on the next RFN.

Greg, your editing to this podcast is like Dr. Dre and his search for the perfect sound. But you are dropping every week and he is still having us wait since 2001.

No one makes Jonny sound as good as Greg (compare crosstawk ;) ) and this episode was another one of editing wizardry. Sound effects and video game soundtracks galore. Hats off. I would like a new staff title: "SeƱor Editor".

Finally got it, it is really great. My gf apparently used to love Yoshi's Island back in the days, she put in 14 hours in two days (I only managed 3 because of work).

Will there be a drunkcast or a magiccast or anything for people who have become RFN fans instead of just regular Nintendo fans? ;)

I am really looking forward to a rap DMP. LOVED this episode. The show has been really strong since 200, even better than it used to be. I really love Greg/Johnny as the responsible hosts and Jon/James as the trollmasters... Only show on my radar that's not hosted on smodcast.com

You should put up a world clock in here so that anyone knows exactly when the show starts for them.
