TalkBack / Re: Shin'en: Wii U Has a Lot of Power to Unleash
« on: June 01, 2013, 10:25:53 PM »
Most of people think that hey said this because they wanted to make the console look more "powerful" than next gent, which is not true.
They do meant that the wii u was more powerful that what people thought, but their point also was that there was no need for a more powerful system, since you can already do everything on consoles with this kind of specs. And that now the real thing that was important was gameplay, since most of developers started to worry more about shaders, higher polycount and higher res textures than making a good quality experience. Which is something I agree too. Games look awesome these days, and I really think that we got to the point where we don't need any more power, maybe just a little tweak here and there, but that's it (just look how halo 4 looks on the x-box 360, do we really need more than that?). But whatever, most of consumers just want the same thing but in "HD", so the market will always aim there.

I think that the gamepad not being the first player is meant for the people who want to play offscreen with two players... which I'm pretty comfortable with

I'm really enjoying balloon fight with my family right now, never had the chance to play this game

TalkBack / Re: Why Nintendo Needs to Continue Doing Its Own Thing
« on: December 01, 2012, 10:06:04 PM »
Nintendo totally needs to do it's own thing. It's what makes them shine among the other consoles. I know some people complain about it... but before you choose the console and the games you buy... you know, you totally know what you are getting and why you are getting it. I have been supporting nintendo since the wii, and my parents have been supporting it since the nes (I was born by the time they got one). And what have always charmed me about Nintendo is their quality on consoles (controls flying over the room and they still work like if they were new), their quality in games and the great times I have had with those games, and that's not because they are 100 million worth games with outstanding graphics and a super huge online experience... It's just because they are fun to play... and because I can play those games with everyone... I can have a great time with my parents by playing mario kart... I can play zelda and see my little sister charmed by the characters and the story of the game (we played both skyward sword and ocarina of time the same year, she's 7), when I bring some friends to my house (the kind of friends that doesn't have a nintendo console and only play on pc some mmorpg from time to time) I can still play mario party or mario or kirby or what not. We have fun! They don't even have to ask... hey, how do I play this thing! There's almost no learning curve for their games and they are also deep.
About the online... I'm not having any problems at all, when I play Mario Kart 7 with my dad online I just turn on skype and we talk through there, I know it would be cool to chat and see my dad's face on the 3ds... or the wii u while playing call of duty and what not, but there are always ways to solve those problems and since I want to play with my family and friends, I will always find a solution for that.
well... that's what I like about Nintendo, and that's why I still buy their consoles and games. It's not that I don't play cod from time to time... I would also like to buy an xbox like in two years at a really low price so I can get halo 1,2 and 4 (I'm the "single player campaign experience" kind of guy) and play again banjo-kazooie and tooie once again. Though I'm always looking for simple but engaging games (like sonic and all stars racing transformed, or nano-assault neo) and I can play those in wii u. I can play call of duty in my wii u with some nice graphics so... It's not that  I need another console. I'm ok with that. Maybe the people that want "the best port" possible will most likely buy a ps3 or an xbox 360, and that's ok, maybe they don't even need a nintendo console, or maybe they may want both because of the exclusives (a nintendo console and a xbox 360/ps3).

That's what I wanted to say, nintendo should still do it's own thing, as they did with the wii. There's a lot of people that had no problems on buying a wii and a ps3 or a 360 and I was the kind of guy that only got a wii. I started with handhelds with the ds, now I have a 3ds and my parents have one for them too. My mom plays 3d solitaire there, she also plays nsmb2 and Mario 3D Kart... these games are really easy to pick up and play... so that's it, there's something for everyone on nintendo consoles, and they always try to keep things easier for costumers. I like that.

I don't get why there's so much problem with the lack of online, they never told us that the normal wii wasn't going to be anymore, so  who cares. This is just a go and play console a la NES, SNES, N64... And I think it's pretty cool, the design is nice and small and a lot of people that doesn't play that much may get it since it's cheaper and colorful, it's like you get what kind of games you will be playing on it. Though I'm scared that it doesn't have any game bundled with it... galaxy, nsbm wii or mario kart wii would be the perfect deal to sell this little thing. Only time will tell if it does well or not, but I don't see the lack of online as a problem, most of people that only have their consoles for play games locally, don't even bother on connecting it online, don't have any idea what the wii shop channel is. They just put a game and play. People that do play online knows that this console lacks of online, knows that this isn't the console they are looking for and may get just the normal wii or a wii u, since there's not a huge online experience for the wii. I used online mostly for wiiware.

TalkBack / Re: Darksiders II Preview
« on: November 04, 2012, 11:24:13 PM »
Yeah, I wouldn't say better art direction neither, but it's certainly different. And a better art direction against all that photorealistic games nowadays. I see darksiders II as a really good looking game, looks colorful, lots of hand painted textures, creatures created from scratch, amazing environments, nice ambient music (i got the ost, watched a lot of gameplay also). There's a lot of creation on it and I simply love this kind of exploration/adventure genre (there are a few games of this genre)
I'm really looking forward for this game on wii u

TalkBack / Re: All of the Wii U Critics Are Right (and I Don't Care)
« on: September 25, 2012, 01:57:10 AM »
I totally agree with everything that Evan_B said.
I have always liked nintendo because of that. Everything is about the experience. You can just pick up anyone and play with them, because nintendo's games are designed to bring fun to everyone. I can play easily with my mom, with my dad, with my 7 years old sister, with my girlfriend or with all them together and have fun.
That's something I can't do with any console, neither with iOS, neither with android, neither with pc. Even if there's the chance to do that, it's not the same. I can go and play call of duty online with friends, but it is competitive, you might get even angry sometimes, as well as games like world of warcraft where everything is about cooperative gameplay. It's just not the same. I hope to see that local multiplayer experience while playing online with the wii u now.

I think nintendo doesn't even need to approach the "core" gamer. I mean, if you own a gaming pc or an xbox or a ps3, you can go and pick up any "core" game, play online and do all that stuff that nintendo doesn't do that well (most of nintendo console owners also owns a ps3 or an xbox). But now, with the wii u, all the audience that nintendo aims for will have the chance to also pick up those "core" games without the need to buy a ps3 or an xbox. I own a wii and a nintendo 3ds, but for example, and I'm looking forward to play darksiders II. Maybe I'll be picking up call of duty to play co-op with my dad, maybe we will be trying that online. But that's the thing, now i don't have to own any other console to play those games, and maybe they are going to be easier to play with the touch controls or with the wiiremote. (I now call of duty has been out on the wii, but it's a game that needs hd graphics to bring you it's experience)

Well, that's pretty much it, I love nintendo because of that, because of their easy to play games, because I can safely let my little sister play it, because I can bring friends that have never touched a nintendo console before and play with them and because every game is about the experience. And now I will be able to try more third party titles and single player games I wasn't able to play before (though if you own any other console that's not that "new", but you'll be getting that experience "the nintendo way")

Podcast Discussion / Re: Best of the Wii: Metroid Prime 3/Trilogy
« on: September 24, 2012, 09:51:43 PM »
I really liked the trilogy. It was simply stunning.
I really enjoy this kind of games you know, it really feels like reading a book or something, where you immerse your self into a world, explore it. It's really relaxing and pleasant and, as you guys said, there are almost no games like this on the wii so I really hope to see more of that kind of experience on the wii u.
I'll start with that by picking up darksiders II, though, it's a third party game, it really looks and feels really "nintendo" you know, it's not like all those dark, apocalyptic, gray and photo-realistic games nowadays. I really hope to see more games like that, with puzzles, exploration, great gameplay.
