Shovel Knight King Of Cards, Amiibo Delayed

Darn that additional polish.

Yacht Club Games isn't quite free from the 8-bit adventures of Shovel Knight yet.

The company's latest blog update has confirmed that the King Knight pack, Shovel Knight Showdown, and the 3-pack of villain Amiibo (Specter, Plague, and King Knight) has been delayed. Yacht Club cited a desire to ensure the highest quality and ensure all the physical editions required no further patching before the launch.

No date was given for the final release, which Yacht Club promises will come in the next update. Best Buy was showing a June 25 date, which may be a placeholder as it is the last Tuesday in June.

I understand all games take time to develop and it is better to have a fully polished game, but it is incredible that this game is taking SO long to complete.  It isn't like a Nintendo AAA title or anything.  But, I can't complain too much, I have enjoyed the game series.

I'm guessing the bulk of the studio is working on a new game?

I just have to shake my head at this news. Shovel Knight was a game I quite enjoyed when it came out, but I feel like we're long past the expiration date of that initial goodwill at this point. I don't even care about this expansion anymore. Wasn't it originally slated to come out 2 years ago? These expansions haven't been THAT different from the main game.

I just want to see what the devs are working on next, whose reveal undoubtably has to wait for this thing to come out so the more it's delayed the less charitable I feel towards it.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Broodwars, I can understand that.  This game overall has been in development for like 4 or 5 years total.  Now, the quality of this game does show, but I got annoyed that they just kept on adding new systems and ports to the game instead of just finishing it.

While Shovel Knight is a great game I can not help but point out that the game is too clunky foritsown good. It gets to a pont where the game's mechanic makes it too frustrating to play the game too much. As for the possibility  of a sequel, Yacht Club Games needs to make the game more fluid and easier to access.

I think they tried to stay too true to the idea of making a retro game.  There was some level design elements that I thought just weren't fun, but did feel retro.  Like the Rainbow bridge spewing statues.
