Come 2009, players will utilize a team of bionic superspies to save the world in the unique action-adventure, Saturday morning cartoon style.

On Tuesday morning Capcom announced Spyborgs, a Wii exclusive action adventure coming in 2009. Developed by the newly formed Bionic Games, Spyborgs will emphasize the teamwork of five bionic superspies in saving the world, all while maintaining a Saturday morning cartoon theme that "refuses to take itself too seriously."

"Our goal is to maximize the potential of the innovative Wii Remote while delivering a new paradigm in cooperative game play," explained President of Bionic Games Michael Haller. Each of the Spyborgs heroes will have unique abilities, like acrobatic skateboarding or robotic firepower, and players will have to utilize each character to tackle unique challenges. The game will go so far as to feature two-player co-op play to engage players in the team experience even further.

"We also wanted to bring a lot of humor to the game," continued Haller, introducing the game's unique "interactive cartoon theme." With five bionic misfits arrayed against a squad of dysfunctional super villains, Bionic Games' goal is to keep the action tongue-in-cheek. Haller explains, "This game will make you laugh — for all the right reasons."

This may be the first game from Bionic Games, but the studio is composed of developers from some of gaming's hit franchises. For example, founder Mike Stout is the studio's Creative Director and is known for his work at Insomniac Games on both the Rachet & Clank series and the PS3 game Resistance: Fall of Man, for which he worked as the Lead Multiplayer Designer.

A NEW TEAM OF SUPERSPIES ROCKS WiiTM WITH CAPCOMS SPYBORGSTM

Saturday Morning Cartoons Explode to Life in This Revolutionary Wii Title

SAN MATEO, Calif. — June 3, 2008 -- Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced Spyborgs™, a new action game coming exclusively to the Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo. In Spyborgs, players take on the role of a diverse team of five bionic superspies in a fight to save the world from a group of dastardly villains. Wii gamers will be set to save the world when the game launches in 2009.

The first title developed by Bionic Games™, a newly-formed development team comprised of former Insomniac Games and High Impact developers known for their work on hugely popular franchises Ratchet and Clank™ and Resistance: Fall of Man™, Spyborgs is a unique action-adventure game set in a stylish world that resembles a Saturday morning cartoon. Engaging players in team-based challenges designed to utilize 2-player co-op play, Spyborgs takes the theme of "team" to a whole new level of fun. In Single-player mode the "team" theme continues as players jump from one member of the superspies’ team to the next, rapidly tackling different challenges designed around each character’s unique abilities. Fast, addictive gameplay, unique controls offered by the Wii Remote™, and a storyline that refuses to take itself too seriously, Spyborgs will provide players with a dynamic and fresh gaming experience like no other.

"Our goal is to maximize the potential of the innovative Wii Remote while delivering a new paradigm in cooperative game play," said Michael Haller, president, Bionic Games, "We also wanted to bring a lot of humor to the game which we feel we have accomplished. This game will make you laugh — for all the right reasons."

Players jump between the identities of a team of five bionic superspies to combat a rogue squad of wacky, dysfunctional super villains. Each character has unique powers to match their super-spy skills, such as heavy firepower, martial arts, bladed weaponry, acrobatic skateboarding skills or pure robotic destruction. This cast of characters may make a misfit group individually, but by utilizing them as a team, the Spyborgs will have the power to save the world – if they don’t blow themselves up first! Spyborgs' tongue-in-cheek action and compelling interactive cartoon theme keeps players engaged from the first episode to the last with one of the most fun and entertaining games to be developed for the Wii system.

The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Well it's apparent Capcom isn't wasting any talent on Wii projects this year.  Gotta outsource and focus the real resources on the HD multi-million $$$ disaster that is RE5.

Madworld managed to show gameplay.  Spyborg's game announcement did not.

2009

They probably just got the first character moving through boxy levels without falling through the ground more than 5 out of 10 times.

Then you would've asked for gameplay footage if they didn't show the trailer.  Sheesh, be happy with what you've got.

I'm wondering if this will be another Zack & Wiki.  A great 3rd party game that everyone overlooks.  My only worry is that it looks like it's based off of a Saturday Morning Cartoon.

Zack & Wiki is too hardcore, even for Nintendo.

That's on purpose it seems. DJing in the middle of a fight FTL.

What I meant is that people will think that its a mediocre game based on a TV show they've never heard of and pass it up, no matter how good it is.

Sales Sabotage A-Go-Go

Not only do Wii gamers reject hardcore titles, they reject creative-innovative kiddie titles.
