Has anyone completed that digging mini game in the volcano world?
I was able to beat Easy mode, but can't beat Intermediate or Hard. I'm curious if anyone out there has beaten those modes. It's a tough mini game.

I can't wait to get my hands on this game. From what I've seen it looks pretty similar to the Wii version, except it's on a handheld. Even the graphics match the Wii's, this isn't a dumbed down version.

Did you get a chance to play online? How is it? Is there still a 0 to 9999 ranking system? I'm glad they were able to do 8 person multiplayer, that'll be fun. 4 player matches aren't as crazy as they should be.

I remember waking up and the price drop was the first story I read. I was thinking this was some kind of April Fool's joke or something. Then I saw we're getting 20 free games and I thought it was too good to be true.

I think Nintendo has a lot of work ahead of them to make this console successful. The mainstream media is blaming "poor" sales on iPhone and Android games. As far as I can tell Nintendo hasn't officially acknowledged these games are a threat. I could see the handheld gaming market going the way of cameras and MP3 players. The market is going to continue to shrink as more people get smartphones. If Nintendo made a console that could answer phone calls I think they'd see great success in America.

I don't think the price is that steep. Angry Birds on Windows Phone 7 is $3 and for that price I'd rather play Kirby (which I've never played before).

Nintendo Gaming / Re: anyone having issues with the Zelda 3DS armor?
« on: July 23, 2011, 08:19:57 PM »
Does it only happen when you have a case on the system? I can't say I have that issue and it seems pretty weird that you're experiencing it.

I do think the price is kind of on the high side until you stop and realize the price for a smartphone (without a contract) is anywhere from $500 to $750. At this point the 3DS can do everything my smartphone can do except placing calls. Do I think it's worth it? Yes.

Games are more expensive this generation, but there is the eShop. You can get Kirby for the GameBoy for $4. I'd personally rather play that than half the cell phone games out there.

I personally blame the price increase on the current financial crisis. If the yen/dollar/euro ratio was more stable I'm sure we'd see cheaper prices. I think a lot of Japanese companies got hit hard when the yen skyrocketed compared to the euro and the dollar.

I can see the 3D and the depth too. PilotWings Resort is painful to play with the slider all the way up for me depending on the vehicle. I think it's because there's a vehicle so close to the screen it makes it hard to focus on things in front of you. I usually play with the 3D turned halfway down.

With Zelda I play with the 3D on full. There's some times where I really don't notice it, but other times I'm like "wow! It's almost like I can touch things!"

Is it me or does the 3D in the Nintendo Video videos seem really low? There doesn't seem to be a ton of depth to them.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Street Pass!
« on: July 23, 2011, 08:04:07 PM »
I've got 30 StreetPasses with 36 tags total. I'd have to say only 8 of those are from passing people in public. The others are from two StreetPass events I attended. Dan O'Leary (President of nSpace) was there and he had 430 tags on his 3DS. Probably from all the gaming shows he goes to.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: 3DS Usage
« on: July 23, 2011, 07:58:02 PM »
I've actually used my 3DS more than I expected. I bought a DSi thinking it'd be fun getting back into handheld gaming (my last handheld was a GameBoy Color). I think I put a total of 80 hours into it in the time I owned it. With the 3DS I kind of expected the same usage, but I'm actually using it a lot more. I've probably put 80 hours into Zelda: OOT 3D alone. All I have to say is great system and Nintendo did a good job with this console.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: How to make the 3DS a Better System
« on: July 23, 2011, 07:54:53 PM »
I don't know how the 3DS could get any thinner. It already isn't comfortable to hold, and making it thinner will just make things a whole lot worse.
Why isn't it comfortable to hold? I'd like to see it thinner mainly because I keep the 3DS and my cell phone in one of my pockets. It looks kind of bulky. I'd love to get rid of the cell phone, but the 3DS would need to be able to make and receive phone calls.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Video Goes Live in North America
« on: July 23, 2011, 04:26:40 PM »
I actually think Nintendo Video is a pretty awesome idea. I usually don't have WiFi access when I want to use Netflix so I can use this as a replacement. The first round of videos aren't bad either. A movie trailer for a movie that comes out this weekend and a few original videos. I really like the Dinosaur Office clip, too bad I can't save it forever. I'm sure Nintendo will release game trailers a few days before their 3DS games come out.
To the people out there who don't like this service, why?

I just got an email from Nintendo today saying they received my console and I should get it back in another 9 to 11 business days. That'll be nowhere near as fast as other people unfortunately. I can't wait to be able to play the Wii again.

I went back to 50cc just to get a star in one of the cups. During that I was hit with more blue shells than at any moment in 150cc.
I noticed this too. It makes me wonder if the size of the first place position holder's lead has anything to do with the frequency of blue shells. It's a lot easier to get a sizable lead in 50cc than it is 150cc.

Or it could just be a coincidence. If the blue shell truly appears randomly then there will be races where there are hoards of them and possibly races where there are none at all.
I'm thinking it's got something to do with the lead of the first player. I've noticed this in single player and multiplayer. If there's a guy way out front you'll see a lot more blue shells flying.

Another thing that I find odd with the AI is the fact that it seems like it'll always get quiet the last lap of a 150CC race up until I get around the last corner. I've had games where no action will happen, then I'll get blue shelled, red shelled and hit by someone with a star. I'll go from holding first place the entire race to 8th or 9th.

Gamma I sent my Wii to Nintendo for this very problem on Monday got it back on Thursday. My saves are in tact. It works fine now.
Wow that's a really good turn around time. Did you send it out to replace the drive? How far from where you live did you send it to?

15
when i shipped mine in, i had it back in 5 business days. But i live in Cali which has it own repair center n LA.
That's a pretty good turnaround time. I'm in Florida and they're having me ship it to New York so I'm guessing I'll see my console sometime late next week or early 2 weeks from now.

Did they keep all your saved data on the console? Nintendo made a note that they would try as I have WiiShop purchases on it.

16
I had mine vertical for the first 5 months I owned the console, but ended up switching it to horizontal due to space issues. I've had it that way for a few months.

I ended up having my problem again, so I just mailed it out through FedEx. Hopefully the turnaround time is fast.

I don't think my issue is because of dust. The disc drive isn't spinning up when the console turns on.

Actually I unplugged everything to flip the console over to look at the serial number. I just replugged the console in to write down what WiiWare/VC games I purchased and things seem to be working fine now. When I turn the console on the drive makes a DIRNT noise and it spins up and reads the game.

Now I'm having doubts about whether or not to send it off. Althought it's probably good to do it just to be safe..

Just called Nintendo, they said they want me to ship the console to be repaired. It's still under warrenty until July so it'll be a free repair for me. Hopefully it isn't too long of a wait, the Wii has been my main gaming console for a while now (my Xbox 360 has been collecting dust).

I'll be using my DSi to fill my gaming needs while I wait.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: What's wrong with Club Nintendo...
« on: April 14, 2009, 09:53:54 PM »
I just registered my DSi, Phantom Hourglass and Pokemon Platinum this weekend and broke the Platinum/Elite mark. I'll probably continue to register my games and take surveys as you still get points for doing so.

What were last year's Elite/Platinum prizes? Is it worth saving them?

I think Club Nintendo is a pretty cool system. They get data directly from gamers and we get prizes in return. I don't see any other gaming companies doing it.

Has anyone redeemed any prizes yet? I'm enjoying my Wiimote holder.

Nintendo Gaming / Help? Problems reading discs when booting up my Wii.
« on: April 14, 2009, 09:45:58 PM »
I've been having issues with the Wii's disc drive. When I turn the console on with a game already inserted the console isn't recognizing there's a game in there. The game channel shows nothing is inserted. When I click the channel the GC/Wii discs spin, although I'm not sure if they do that when a game isn't inserted.

If I eject the disc and reinsert it nothing happens still. I've tried inserting other games to see if it was a bad disc, but it seems like the same issue occurs with any of the games.

The disc drive doesn't seem to spin up, so it's almost like the Wii isn't trying to read the disc. This issue seemed to crop up right after I installed the SD card update.

My workaround right now is to either unplug the Wii and turn it back on or turn the console on and off a few times. It's getting pretty annoying.

I've had my Wii for about 8 months now, no pets and I don't smoke. I doubt there's a lot of dust in there. Would this be a symptom of a dusty Wii? Anyone else have this issue? Should I call Nintendo or try the disc cleaner first?

Mario Kart Wii for me too. This game is fun to play with a large group of people.

I'd like to do Mario Kart Wii on Thursday. It's a fun game everyone can enjoy :).

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Get DSi, or wait for DS2?
« on: February 25, 2009, 11:17:03 PM »
I can't determine if the DSi is another quick iteration of the hardware while Nintendo toils on something else or if it's a device that will extend the life of the DSi for years to come. I personally don't see DSiWare as a reason to upgrade if you already own a DS. Look at WiiWare's current library. If the Wii didn't have WiiWare and Nintendo decided to release a version of the Wii that had it, would you upgrade your Wii? I probably wouldn't. A few hits wouldn't justify buying similar hardware.

DSiWare will probably only have gimmicky software, not hit titles. I don't think publishers would want to alienate the rest of the DS install base.

All that being said I'm buying a DSi. I haven't owned a handheld since the GameBoy Color, but with the list of games I'm missing out on and my need to reexperience portable gaming I caved under the pressure.

Hey guys, I'm new to NWR and just started playing Animal Crossing. I'm hoping to play with some experienced players to see what I should be shooting for in my town. I've added my information on the friend code thread, so make sure you guys add me :).

P.S. Is the stuff in the lost and found near the town gate fair game? I always feel guilty taking stuff that isn't mine... What do you guys do?
