NWR Feedback / RE: Press Conference Videos
« on: May 16, 2004, 04:07:25 AM »
It's really nice with all the videos you're providing now, but so far I've tried with every single video-player I could think of, and none of them are able to play these files, not even the latest official DivX Player... :-'

TalkBack / RE:New Nintendo TV Spots
« on: April 22, 2004, 05:51:24 AM »
Well it's good you guys are happy Nintendo is going for the pop culture, and makes flashy commercials with licensed music, and markets GBA-SPs with tribal tattoos on them.

At least it's all in time. I hope these spots are aired in Europe, as the general public around here still has no clue of what the GBA can do at all. If Nintendo aren't keen to spread the awareness soon, Game Boy might seriously get its teeth kicked in by the PSP in PAL land.

Most of these are described with icons in the back og my PAL version Soul Calibur 2 booklet... Except for that smoking & drinking one.

TalkBack / RE:Killer7 No Longer GameCube Exclusive
« on: January 29, 2004, 10:12:37 PM »
Well well, I'm certainly looking forward to Killer7, it looks really spectacular. Tying this announcement to Mikami san leaving Capcom and joining Nintendo, I'd say, is a rather speculative assumption though. Not that I wouldn't like to see it happen, but Shinji Mikami should be whereever he feels able to make the best games.

He's probably going to join HAL in place of Kirby creator Masahiro Sakurai, and give us the dark, mature Kirby's Killfest we've been waiting for! Or Super Smash Bros. with blood.

TalkBack / RE:Sega Picks up Samurai Jack GC
« on: January 27, 2004, 09:48:32 AM »
With the kind of stories Samurai Jack features, this game would have to be tremendously unlike the series, to have a chance of being any sort of popular.
Unless they're going for a somewhat hardcore half mature and well thought out game, that really appeals to the fans instead of the common 5-year-old kids, which is of course unheard of for a game based on a cartoon series. I mean, look the Power Puff games and Spongebob games of the last couple years.

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Reveals "Third Pillar"!
« on: January 22, 2004, 07:18:48 AM »
"And when was the last time you heard the argument that someone went ps2 cause it can play games?  People are realizing how cheap and better dvd players are, they aren't worried about that anymore."

Actually, I'm seeing the exact opposite happening. PS2's are right now being sold in bunches around Europe, on the slogan "best selling DVD-player ever," which isn't even a lie.
Most people see through the fact (or are unaware of it) that it's a rather rubbish DVD-player by todays standarts, and buy because it also plays games and really is rather cheap by now.

Funniest nintendo forum ever.

Anyway, how mane eyes does one person have? 2. Mostly. this could still be 3D glasses. WIRELESS 3D glasses. Explains the radio transmitting thing, as the Wave Bird functions the same way. Would also make sense in the "3rd pillar" and "functioning with existing games" department. Would also explain the "it's okay if most people aren't that interested" attitude.
Alright, shoot, I dunno why 3D glasses would need two ARM processors. Maybe the to generate the 2nd picture, that needs to be viewed from a slightly different angle? "Fun and movement"? Looking around incorporated into the glasses like that Kiby's Tilt 'n' Tumble thing.

Anyways, it'll probably just be something hastily slapped together for pitching against the PSP, which I believe to be an impossible fight, as the PSP will, aside from fans of handheld gaming devices, also appeal to every idiot with a PlayStation who aren't even aware of Nintendo's existence, and every other idiot who usually just play games on their cell-phones, but still consider PlayStation to be "cool".

TalkBack / RE:Sword of Mana Review
« on: January 15, 2004, 05:12:15 AM »
Yeah, re-releases of Secret of Mana and Sieken Densetsu 3 for GBA would be great. A lot of people have never played the third one, as it was only unofficially translated to English by DeJap for ROM download.

TalkBack / RE:Resident Evil 4 in 2004
« on: January 13, 2004, 05:44:36 AM »
This might become the first Resident Evil that I'm interested enough in to actually buy. So far I've found Majora's Mask vastly scarier than anything RE I've played, but RE4 looks to employ some more psychological elements over it's predecessors. :9

TalkBack / RE:Iwata Comments on Nintendo Next Generation
« on: January 12, 2004, 02:21:21 PM »
Let's have another go at it:

"the current systems have basically reached their limits"

True when speaking of actual gameplay. There's been some interesting views on what Iwata san was thinking when he said this. I'm with Sooper Dood all the way, but I think he's also thinking of what is needed for Nintendo, in order to make the games they like to make.
Mario Sunshine has been accused for not really pushing the system, but if Nintendo is happy with how it is, and believe they can do many more great games with the GameCube technology, why on Earth would they produce a system with four times the graphical power, but no real design related benifits?
The current systems have basically reached their limits... in what new game design aspects they can actually present.

And that's probably why Nintendo is cooking up some mystery device, to offer those new hard-to-achieve revolutionary gameplay concepts. The hundred-NES-games-in-a-controller is a nice thought, but hardly very Nintendo'ish. Iwata san also said last week that the new system will work alongside the GameCube and GBA as "a third pillar," and a multigame NES rerelease doesn't sounds like anything in that direction to me.

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Announces World Hobby Fair Presence
« on: January 10, 2004, 07:39:41 AM »
Hmm, are you guys sure the name of Tetra's Trackers will indeed still be "Tetra's Trackers"? Hopefully. I heard somewhere it would be changed to Navi's Trackers, which really wouldn't make much sense, as everyone loves Tetra and hates Navi, though she probably is more widely recognized. Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is, that I'm not buying this game without Tetra and her sexy eyes!

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Are Games Getting To Easy?
« on: October 14, 2003, 04:28:14 PM »
I don't think games in general are getting too easy. Well, their actual difficulty might be dropping, I wouldn't know, but I feel that games are generally becoming more complicated. Particularly PC-games are getting rediculessly complex. For newcomers to games, learning to play Civilization III, Heroes of Might and Magic IV or just Warcraft III seems simply incomprehendable. I have a feeling the same thing is happening to many console games; Mario doesn't just jump anymore, each new action adventure has a weirder spell system than the previous, and it's considered unacceptable not to overload players with a plethora of gadgets with several different functions.

If games are at the same time actually getting easier to complete, once you learn to play them, it means that the people who aren't scared away by how immense a game looks, but invests time in figuring out the play mechanics, will just be dissapointed by the lack of actual challenge.

That would indeed be a very sad evolution of gaming, but I don't think there's much to be afraid of really. Though the mainstreem games might be getting easier to cater to a wider audience, really tough games will probably always be around. Viewtiful Joe, Mario Sunshine and F-Zero GX are not particularly easy to me, and Tactics Ogre on the GBA is both obscenely complex and hard.

Nintendo Gaming / Beyond Good & Evil demo
« on: October 14, 2003, 03:50:30 PM »

Beyond Good & Evil might not look particularly special when looking at the screens, but this here PC-demo really convinced me that it's something to snatch up for the 'Cube when it's eventually out. It's beautiful, fun, diverse and has great voice-acting, lovely characters and creative use of a camera for free-look mode, analysing and money-making!

Check it out, but only if your comp will run it. You'll need more than just any G-force 4 graphics card..

TalkBack / The Return of the $60 Game?
« on: June 27, 2003, 01:37:24 AM »
I'd be more than happy to pay $60 for new videogames. In Denmark we still pay $75 for most new console games, and that's not even considering the current low-as-ever dollar. New N64 games was $85 back in the day. PC-games, on the other hand, are released at about $50 here. I just don't get it, 'cause with prices like that, it's honestly no fun to be a console gamer, 'round these parts. :-/
