Will Wright's ultimate god game is heading to “the only next-gen system." http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=14704 In an interview with UK publication The Guardian, legendary game creator Will Wright has confirmed that he is working on a version of Spore for Wii. No other details on the Wii release were given during the interview.
Wright mentioned that he was making a Wii version of Spore without being asked about it directly. Instead, he mentioned that he liked playing with a Wii at home and then let the cat out the bag on his own initiative. “We're doing Spore on the Wii," he said.
Spore, the god game that lets players control evolution from the smallest microbe to the largest planets in outer space, is currently under development for the PC. Publisher Electronic Arts has not yet set a release date for the game.
The AIAS Hall of Fame inductee was also asked about the games he liked to play. He eventually touched on the subject of what “next-gen" gaming is to him:
"Somebody asked me what I thought next generation meant and what about the PlayStation 3 was next generation. The only next gen system I've seen is the Wii – the PS3 and the Xbox 360 feel like better versions of the last, but pretty much the same game with incremental improvement. Bu the Wii feels like a major jump – not that the graphics are more powerful, but that it hits a completely different demographic. In some sense I see the Wii as the most significant thing that's happened, at least on the console side, in quite a while."
Nintendo World Report will be on the lookout for any new information about Spore heading to the Wii.
