Mario & Luigi's fourth adventure is coming this summer.

The comical role-playing adventure series starring Mario and Luigi is returning for its fourth installment on Nintendo 3DS this summer.

The game, titled Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, features Luigi as the central character, with the adventure taking place within his dreams. 

As the story progresses, the player is presented with a sleeping image of Luigi's face on the touch screen, which can be poked, prodded, and otherwise played with to alter and manipulate the world inside Luigi's head.

This will be the first game in the series to be presented using 3D character models as opposed to 2D sprites.

The news comes from today's Nintendo Direct conference as part of Nintendo's new "Year of Luigi" campaign.

I'm a bit wary of the whole "dream" gimmick and the game could stand to look a great deal better, but hey it's still fairly early in development.  Besides, Bowser's Inside Story looked similarly gimmicky, and that turned out great (albeit not as funny as the first game IMO).

As far as comedy goes the first game is in a league of its own no doubt. This looks interesting, I was certainly surprised it was announced.

I hope they change the Mario and Luigi Models.  Those are not very good at all.

In today's market Predicting a Delay is so safe that Vegas stopped calling that Gambling.

Totally forgot they said this summer. Will be great if they deliver.

This was easily the best thing shown, although I'm not so sure I like the switch to 3D graphics.
