In this pre-Christmas edition of eShopping, we ask ourselves: what would Kutar do?

Our focus is mostly on the Nintendo 3DS this week. With a large array of titles, that platform is still going strong. That being said, the sole Wii U game is certainly an impressive one, which is why it will kick the feature off. For you Europeans out there, stay tuned for a buyers guide this coming Wednesday/Thursday. It will detail the best deals for you to play alone or with your friends and family!

Teslapunk (Wii U, NA/EU)

Teslapunk is a neat shoot'em up that came rather unexpected. I never heard of this game before this week, which is rather remarkable. The game features very solid mechanics when it becomes to defending yourself in the horizontal levels that it provides. The ZR-button gives you a large array of bullets, while holding B grants you access to a laser. Each have their plusses and minuses and it ensures that there is always a risk behind the corner. That being said, the game is short with only six levels on the menu. You can easily play through all of them in a single sitting. Luckily, Arcade Mode gives missions to complete and Survival Mode is where I kept coming back for more. Overall, it was surprisingly fun game that I would gladly play a few more rounds of.

GALAXY BLASTER (New Nintendo 3DS, NA/EU)

In Galaxy Blaster, your goal is shoot at cubes that are coming at a rapid pace towards you. Unlike a shoot'em up, where you can freely move left and right, your ship moves automatically for you. The only real control you have is the shooting, which is done by tapping on the touchscreen. Galaxy Blaster always has a slight delay that makes it difficult to nail shots. You can get hang of it eventually, but even then, you will stop playing before you know it. There is nothing more to Galaxy Blaster, which makes it ultimately forgettable.

Crollors Game Pack (Nintendo 3DS, EU)

The Crollors Game Pack offers four distinct games (Space Shooter, Color Switch, Dotch It and Zig-Zag Ball) to play around with. There is a space shoot'em up in which you move about and shoot at anything that moves. Space Shooter works, but ultimately? There are way too little tricks to keep you engaged. This is sort of the main issue with this piece of software. Let's take Zig-Zag Ball as another example, where you swipe left and right over the touchscreen to keep a ball on a path. It isn't badly designed, but it never becomes anything grander. You might tinker around with it for an hour and quickly realize how much better pieces of software you can buy. It does show promise at times, but the potential is never ever reached.

Kutar End Credits (Nintendo 3DS, NA/EU)

Ride into sunset on your trusty motorcycle and avoid everything in your path. As the character goes into the screen, you are given little time to react. It doesn't exactly help that the Kutar minigame controls are terrible!

Kutar Jump Rope (Nintendo 3DS, NA/EU)

You basically know what to expect. Jump over a rope by pressing the A-button and keep going until you're out. The fun is gone after just a few tries.

Recommended: No

Kutar Powder Factory (Nintendo 3DS, NA/EU)

Move your character from left to right and keep filling the bag with powder. Once you start missing, it is all over. Just like Jump Rope, this Kutar game stops being fun before you know it.

Kutar Ski Lift (Nintendo 3DS, NA/EU)

Ensure that the cats sit at the correct moment in their ski lift chairs. You will need to anticipate the timing and try to do it just right. This can be quite tricky, as the timing is slightly off. While this is absolutely one of the better entries, that doesn't mean we can truly recommend it.

Recommended: No

Kutar Tube Rider (Nintendo 3DS, NA/EU)

Hope on a tube and glide down that snowy mountain in style. There is barely any real control in this minigame, as you simply move somewhat to the left and right. Your whole goal is keep the tube steady and keep going until you can't anymore. You are done with it before long.

Pick of the Sales - Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (Wii U/Nintendo 3DS)

Europe: €4.99/£4.49 (Ends January 5, normally €9.99/£8.99)

North America: $4.99 (Ends January 4, normally $9.99)

The Angry Video Game Nerd's popularity is very well past its peak, but it can't be denied that FreakZone Games' adaptation is brilliant. This sidescrolling action game burst onto the scene back in 2015, and it stole the hearts of many retro game fans. The levels are brutal, but never overcomplicate matters to a point of no return. The real challenge for you this Christmas is to play the old school way: 15 lives, 5 continues, no saving, and tough enemies. Are you up for the challenge? If so, proceed for further details of your mission to Bryan Rose's 8.0 review for the title.

Talkback

Thats a lot of No.

I actually downloaded the Kutar End Credits because it was so cheap and it seemed like the best one from a review I was looking at. Im tempted to download the burger one too, but its probably just as bad.
