Cat Mario? Okay, now I'm interested.

The Xbox One may be launching this week, but Nintendo fans truly have their hands full. Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds are poised to be two of the best games of the year. Beyond that the latest Mario Party is here on the 3DS. If this week does not excite you then you probably just don't like Nintendo.

Wii U

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! - $39.99, November 19

The newest Adventure Time Game is the first on the Wii U. While I still don’t understand what people find funny about this show, it is good to see its games supporting Nintendo systems. Exploring dungeons is what this one is all about.

Super Mario 3D World - $59.99, November 22

Super Mario 3D World may be my most anticipated game of 2013. This new Mario 3D platformer has four player local multiplayer, Mario transforming into a cat, and a big band soundtrack. Everything about this game looks great. Fun gameplay and pretty visuals just may make this many people’s game of the year

Wii

Zumba Kids, November 19- $29.99

There is yet another Zumba game this Fall, and this time it is for the kids. I recommend taking a look back at previous This Week in Releases to learn what these games are all about.

3DS

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! - $29.99, November 19

The second 3DS Adventure Time game. If you get the humor of the show, which I don’t, you can look forward to a funny game.

Girl’s Fashion Shoot - $29.99, November 19

As much as I dream of being a model, I don’t know if I am going to play Girl’s Fashion Shoot. With all of the customizable outfits, I just won’t be able to decide on my new look.

Young Justice: Legacy- $29.99, November 19

Cancelled on the Wii and Wii U, Young Justice: Legacy is still hitting the 3DS. The game expands the story of the show it is based on, filling in the gap between seasons one and two. A whopping 12 playable characters and appearances by heroes like Batman make this one super game.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds- $39.99, November 22

Do you feel it? Do you hear it? The phenomenon you are experiencing is hype. Hype can become a powerful force when a new Zelda game comes out. The newest Zelda adventure finds the hero of time on a new quest, and is one of the biggest 3DS games this year.

Mario Party Island Tour- $39.99, November 22

While the past handheld Mario Party games have been not that great, Mario Party Island Tour might buck that trend. Until reviews start coming, I am being cautiously optimistic about this one.

While I'll admit, this is no Shakespear, Faulkner or Hemmingway, this show is amazing.  And it's not just about the funny (although there's plenty of that).

The close-knit continuity, the way they're slowly revealing critical parts of character's backstory (or even the story of how Earth spoilerspoilerspoiler became the Land of Ooo).  This show is exactly what is *right* about animation, the way it can tell small stories that anyone of any age can watch while still telling a larger, overarching story that, often, you don't even know it until they call back to an earlier episode (or suddenly, when something from an earlier episode seemed like a throw-away, one off, it because the basis for a much larger plot point later on.)

Shows like this and Avatar/Korra make me thrilled to know that Animation is alive and well - unlike something like the new MLP - which is slightly above animated storytelling from the 80's and is such a HUGE step back from what shows in the 90's (like FOX's X-Men, Spider-Man and, to some extent, Batman: TAS) did for the medium.

Mario 3D World and Zelda are already paid off. Might get Mario Party depending on how much eShop credit I get at Christmas. Kind of torn about picking up the Adventure Time game because my hatred of dungeon crawling is clashing with the greatest game name in history.

Mario Party will be great for us. I have an XL, my wife has a 3DS and we're getting my daughter a 2DS for Christmas!!!

With that in mind, I can wait till christmas for Mario Party, but I don't think I can wait for Mario 3D World. I'll almost certainly download it at 10PM the day before it releases (when they release at midnight eastern they release at the exact same moment here in Utah so if I download it I can be playing by 10:30-ish.
If you're wondering about what I think about Zelda, well not only have I continued playing Wind Waker, but I downloaded the original Zelda, Zelda II, Link's Awakening and I'll probably download a Link to the Past tonight!!!
