Can you climb to the top of this mansion?
Scott Thompson: Monster Manor is a pretty neat combination of exploration and combat. Placing scraps of the map down like Tetris pieces and then hoping for plenty of good loot in the rooms that form is always fun. And the combat with ghosts is much more interactive than something like Find Mii. In fact, I look at this one like a complete evolution of Find Mii, and it is better in every regard.
Neal Ronaghan: Monster Manor is my favorite. I’ve probably pumped the most coins into this (though Mii Force is a close second). It’s got tons of depth to it through the numerous floors (30, I think), and it has a lot more strategy to it as well. I like the weapon fusion system. I like the simple active combat. I like placing blocks in different ways to get bonus treasure chests. Even the puzzle blocks are super cool! While Mii Force is a great game, I think Monster Manor is the best StreetPass game.
Becky Hollada: My favorite, hands down. Scott hit the nail on the head saying it's like a more evolved Find Mii. It takes Find Mii's one-on-one battles, improves them, and then adds a whole new realm of game play beyond that. To me, the game couple have functioned solely on collecting map pieces and exploring each level, but kicked it up to the next level by combining two different strands of gameplay. When I played my first StreetPass in all four of these games, only Monster Manor made me consider driving to the nearest GameStop in hopes of getting just one more StreetPass. It also wins points for having the most adorable supporting character of all four games: Iris Archwell.
Andrew Brown: Easily the best of the new offerings. A pinch of Find Mii, a dash of Tetris-like puzzles mixed with a fun story and an adorable sidekick. As the tiny chunks of your map are doled out so slowly, this is another game that will take some time to progress in without the aid of a Play Coin stockpile. Nonetheless the game is so much fun, and so addictive that it’s the only game in the new lineup that has made me actually want to spend my Play Coins, just to see what comes next. The new real-time battle system is a huge improvement over Find Mii, or anything else the StreetPass Plaza has to offer at the moment.
Guillaume Veillette: No dissension from me here: Monster Manor is fantastic. It’s a mish-mash of The Deadelian Opus (look it up) and an active-time turn-based RPG, and somehow, it works. Meticulously crafting the perfect floor, the one that will yield you the best rewards, proves as addicting as upgrading your gear and character. Completing the 30 floors will probably take an extremely long time and should hopefully keep us all busy until a next batch of StreetPass games is cooked up.
