Another Kirby game, a video about Guild 01, and Itsu no Ma ni Terebi evolves... kinda.

It’s a bit of a slow week on the eShop in Japan, but another Virtual Console game did make its way to the service. Here’s a look at everything that hit the shop:

3DS Downloadable Software

Nikoli no Puzzle Shikaku ni Kire – 500 yen

Virtual Console

Kirby no Kirakira Kizzu (Kirby’s Star Stacker, Game Boy) – 400 yen

Video Content

Not much new video content is available this week. There is a 30-second commercial highlighting the upcoming Guild 01 (zero one), which is a collaborative game combining the efforts of Suda 51, Yoot Saito (Seaman, Odama), Yasumi Matsuno (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance), and Japanese comedian Yoshiyuki Hirai. The compilation consists of four different games, one coming from each person. For a somewhat detailed look at the game, feel free to check out the video below to see what kind of wackiness you are missing if you don’t have a Japanese 3DS!

Software Impressions/SpotPass TV Shout Out

As enticing as Kirby’s Star Stacker is, I have found myself taking another break from purchasing an eShop title this week. That doesn’t mean I won’t shamelessly tell you more about the insanity which is Itsu no Ma ni Terebi, though. With less than one month left before the the application is canned, many of the shows seem to be in their final stages of life. This doesn’t mean the actors and people involved have given up, though, as the same level of quality (right?) is still being pursued.

One of the shows I previously talked about, Idol-ring, has gone back to its roots. When the show first started last summer, it put two cute Japanese idols against each other in a sumo match. The show went on for months using this pattern (including a week where they shot in Guam and had the girls fighting each other on a floating sumo ring in a pool) until they eventually strayed away to soccer penalty kick competitions. With the PK segments ending earlier this week, Idol-ring has returned pool side, with the girls engaging in tug of war competitions. Each girl faces the other on a floating platform and has a grip on the rope. To win, the girl has to pull the other off to plunge her into the water. It’s silly, nonsensical fun that can only be found in Japan and with nearly 30 or so girls to get through in their tournament bracket of matches, this chapter of Idol-ring should play itself out until the close of Itsu no Ma ni Terebi.

Seems like everyone is getting a heavy dose of VC Kirby lately.  Maybe that compilation game is coming sooner than we think?

Maybe a few weeks after E3 even.
