A well-prepared pre-order means a smooth launch purchase.

Last Saturday, after months of waiting, the 3DS was finally released in Japan. My lovely wife made sure to reserve mine with a copy of Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition the day reserves went available, so on Saturday morning I set an alarm for ten minutes before ten, and then scurried happily towards the Bic Camera in Ikebukuro.

Unfortunately, I was in such a rush to get in line to pick mine up that I didn't flash any pictures, but the line for the Labi (another one of the electronics giants in Japan) was massive, wrapping around the building. As I was waiting in line I talked to my wife on the phone and she mentioned that the news said there were over 700 people in line there! The line at Bic Camera wound up the stairs of the building to the 5th floor, however because the stock was limited to those with preorders only, it was a very calm scene. At just about 10 a.m., when they opened, I hopped into the end of the line on the 5th floor. After about half an hour I finally had my 3DS and software in hand.

Once I got home while I proceeded with changing my clothes and what not my wife had already had the system unboxed. I picked up the Cosmos Black version, and I'm happy I did.
