I'll meet you there. I had no idea the release date was so soon and i never preordered it so i might as well. its been awhile since i've been down there and i'm sure i have at least ONE friend/former coworker there who might give me some extra free swag. they always do ;)

anyone else going?

StratosNovember 10, 2009

I will be there with you in spirit alone. I wish I could fly over for the event.

EasyCureNovember 10, 2009

please don't possess me and make me swing dance in the store. it gets pretty crowded there.

I'm sure I'll walk right past both of you at some point during it.

I need to get some sort of Pale-like distinguishing feature. I could wear the silly rooster hat I got from the Scribblenauts event, but my head's too big for it. Also, Scribblenauts was hella disappointing.

I was only going to possess you long enough to buy me a copy of the game as well and send it to me in the mail next-day shipping.

Top hat.

If only I was around for the Layton hat!

Someone needs to take lots of pictures with Alison from Nintendo Week. nekkid pix preferred]/spoiler]. I'm pretty sure those crazy kids are going.

I promise to do what I can.

Anyone who goes will know me by my mustache. Yes it's that awesome.

I will now be asking anyone with a mustache "Hey, are you TheFleece?"

All NWR members should buy/wear buckethats.  That should be our secret gang sign.

Here's a video of Neal.  Study it.  Learn his mannerisms.  Know him like the back of your hand.  Then sneak up behind him and steal his wallet.

I'm pretty sure Neal's the one with the beard.

Blast from the past!!!

I think that was the first time Lauren did anything for the site, too.

I still have the Layton Hat.  You should swing by Rochester on your way to NYC... because as everyone who doesn't live in the northeast knows... Rochester is just a suburb of NYC. =P

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2663/4096291984_f6d6653d09.jpg

Considering I'm roughly a three hour drive away from Rochester and only a 40-minute bus ride away for NYC, I'll pass.

Or maybe I'll sneak in, take the hat, and leave.

PaleMike Gamin, Contributing EditorNovember 11, 2009

Heh yeah, my Rochester is a Suburb thing was sarcastic.  You're more than three hours aren't you?  I know it's like 4.5 hours for me to get to NYC and about 6 for me to get to Philly.

My bad, its like five hours. For some reason I always think Albany and Rochester are closer together, and Albany's like a 2-3 hour drive for me.

Lol... rochester...

I'm wondering what I can do to set myself apart from the rest of nintendo nerds.. I don't have an awesome mustache like Fleece, and too many people there will wear mario/luigi hats whether they're the official ones or the baseball caps like I got (from NWS by the way)..

I can wear a Cure tshirt! Just fill in the "easy" and you'll know its-a me mario!

Or you can look for a girl with blonde/pink/orange/purple hair. The guy who has his arm around her will be me.

What time does everyone plan on being there? I'll be in the city early for some personal stuff, like arounnd noon, then just plan on shooting over to rockerfeller plaza right after.

I'll be getting there early. I'm very excited. I might be going with my friend who has an annoying laugh. So keep an eye out for that.

TheFleeceNovember 12, 2009

I expect to show up around 1 or so. I've been to Nintendo World Store events before and while they open early they will likely close the store down for about an hour to set things up inside and those who are present for the event will have to form a line outside. I would like to be one of the first people inside so I'll likely be standing around playing DS and waiting for stuff to happen.

Man Nipple.

Damn you, Nintendo - Why couldn't you put the Nintendo World Store in Carmi, Illinois?

I'd spend enough money there to make it worth it.

I don't know what else I'll be doing on Saturday, so maybe I'll shoot to get there around the same time.

Any DS games you want to play some multi in?

RABicleNovember 12, 2009

Sorry guys I was just playing it then. Don't wanna spoil it but Bowser is the final boss.

The cake is a lie.

I only have a few games to play with others I have Mario Kart, GTA, New Super Mario Bros and Jump Ultimate Stars. If you have a copy of the Korg DS we can mix some beats up on the fly. If you have anything you want to play bring it out :)

EasyCureNovember 12, 2009

Hm well I have to meet up with my brother at noon for a quick haircut somewhere on bowery, but once I'm done with that I'm heading towards NWS so perhaps I'll meet upp with you guys and you can save me a place on the line ;)

i'd bring my ds but I think its supposed to rain tomorrow, so if it does it ain't happening. I do have the korg ds 10 though! I'll be tempted to bring it just to take you up on the offer Fleece, never did play it with someone else. Then again I suck at using it since I haven't used it much.

Woo picking up my gf to head over to the subway!

Despite the shitty weather I'm pretty excited about this, due in part to the fact that at the moie theatre last night I finally saw the nsmbw ad

that Baby guyNovember 14, 2009

I'd go to some of these events if I lived near Manhattan.  Florida is a bit away, though.  Nintendo could consider opening more Nintendo World Stores, I wouldn't see it as a bad thing, even if it was just in major metropolitan areas.

went to the GameStop launch of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I remember, and participated in the tournament.  When it was time to check out, though, the line was massive and they were giving preorders special treatment, going as far as to say they might sell out of copies for those who didn't preorder.  So... instead of waiting in a line to possibly not get the game, I walked five or six stores down to a 24-hour Wal-Mart, and bought the game there, instead.  I'd imagine Nintendo plans these events, and stocks their shelves better, but I don't think GameStop even realizes how much money they use by trying to inflate their preorder numbers by forcing customers to preorder to get the game on day 1.  It's weird.

Regardless, let us know on how the event goes... and if there's enough copies of the game for everyone!

EasyCureNovember 14, 2009

I've worked at NWS.. I doubt they'll run out of copies... but they might put a few on hold and say they're sold out... until they get restocked..

I'll try to update the thread but its times like this I wish I had a twitter account for easy updates. I brought my camera and if I find neal you'll all get to see him doing his job!

TheFleeceNovember 14, 2009

I never saw them sell out on games there- I'm not worried about that at all. I'm getting ready right now I should be there soon!

I'm heading out now.

BTW, my job at this event is "OMGZ NEW SUPER MARIO BROS A DAY EARLY!" It's not like there's really anything to do at these besides enjoy the swag and take note of how the event is set up.

Perhaps I'll win a free copy of the game like I did at the Punch-Out event. :)

EasyCureNovember 14, 2009

Not if I win it first! My errand ran a lil long so I'm literally headed over there now. Hope its not TOO packed

TheFleeceNovember 14, 2009

EasyCureNovember 14, 2009

I don't think so...

BeautifulShyNovember 14, 2009

You guys should post pics of each other.

EasyCureNovember 14, 2009

It was a brief encounter, I was standing on line in the rain waiting to buy the game and Fleeces gf happened to notice my gf and they both timidly said "easycure.." until I turned around.

I did take a pic with fleece and I might post it (pending on review... I'm kinda shy when it comes to pictures).

I didn't see neal, or rather, I didn't meet him (I coulda walked passed him w/o even knowing) but oh well, maybe next time. I did shout "man-nipples" a few times before parents started looking at me funny. I got the game and a shirt and another surprise I didn't expect!

I tried to sign up for the tourney (where I heard fleece spotted neal) but it was too late. I did get a ton of pics of a mario bros museum they had set upp though, I'll definately post those (tomorrow).

All in all it was pretty fun, despite the rain. Meeting a fellow member of NWR was awesome (his mustache is fucking epic) its just too bad we couldn't hang out more.

I was able to meet EasyCure and Neal- you guys were feet apart from each other on the line. It seemed that Neal wanted to get in on the tournament, but I don't think he made it. I saw Gary and Alison walk around a few times, but the pics I took were crowded with people. I wanted to check out the museum, but the rain got so bad that I just took off for home.
It was nice to run into you guys we should meet again on better weather terms! Hey- I got the game and a shirt- What else did you get?

Yea, I got to talk to The Fleece and his girlfriend for a little bit. Stupid rain...
I waited for the tournament and ended up saying screw it and went to the museum.

I'm back in drier clothes and gearing up to play the damn game all night.

Unfortunately, all I have our camera phone pics of the museum, but it was really cool.

EasyCure - if you have better pictures, could I use them for a follow-up blog post? Naturally you'd be credited.
