After leaving Sonic Team in 2006, Naka-san created the independent development studio Prope. Because of the wonderful titles he helped to create in the past I am extremely excited about Prope's first game, Let's Tap. Please enjoy this lovely new Let's Tap trailer and this link to a 2001 Planet GameCube interview with Yuji Naka.

Also, I must mention that the lesser known participants in the creation of Sonic the Hedgehog, Naoto Ōshima and Hirokazu Yasuhara, are awesome.

Wow, it's like the game knocks off eight games in one...only with tapping controls. Oh wait, Donkey Konga had tapping... and that first one reminds me of something between Track & Field (NES) and DKJB.....

It looks great, but I still have no idea how the controls are supposed to work.

I think you tap.

I believe that is the consensus.  A detailed interview might shed more light on these mechanics.

It isn't immediately obvious how you're supposed to control running speed, jumping, balance, etc. in the running game with just tapping, for example.  I want to know how much of it is autopilot and how much of it is gameplay.

The Remote can sense variations in tilt, and a cardboard box would transfer enough force to disturb the position of a Remote's end to trigger a unique change.

Tap faster?
Tap both sides simultaneously?

It's Jungle Beatoff without Bongos.

I'm not yet convinced that distinguishing left from right would be reliable enough.

What if the remote falls off the box while you're playing? Nintendo will soon be forced to include a string to anchor the remote down to the box

or a box specially designed for tapping.

to be included with Motion Plus.

I think you place the Remote face-down, so it's unlikely to fall off.  And it seems very unlikely the tapping could be interpreted directionally.  For some games, you just tap in different rhythms for different effects, and it looks like you probably need a Nunchuk for a couple of others.

I'm with TYP on this... It's like Jungle Beat, Donkey Konga, and Boom Blox all rolled into one.

It's designed to use the Wii Remote grips. They will not slide off. I'll have to get some just for this game. Don't really understand the point of this topic though when we have a Lets Tap topic already.

Does this mean Gumbuzzo the giraffe is on hold?

So what do you have to do to unlock Blistergeist Mode?
