After a slight delay, we've got the winning entry of the DS Lite Contest.

When PGC offered a brand new DS Lite to the reader who could come up with the best alternative use for the new handheld, we recieved quite a few colorful entries. Everything from an easy-bake oven to a miner's hat to a detective's fingerprint kit. Needless to say, competition was fierce, and you really needed to be original to stand out. Luckily, our winner, Daniel Solem, was just that, and he'll soon be the proud owner of an Ice Blue DS Lite, thanks to our fantastic partners at Lik-Sang. Check out his entry:

The DS Lite is my ticket to the ladies. At the local Starbucks, I’ll sit next to an unsuspecting beauty and set the system on the table. She’ll be attracted to the sleek design, and comment “Wow, that is one beautiful device." I reply, “Really? I was just thinking how dull and lifeless it looked next to you."

She’ll blush and ask, “Is it as nice on the inside as on the outside?" I’ll flip the lid and power it up. “Wow, those screens are bright," she exclaims. I reply, “but nowhere as near as your eyes."

She is mine.

Daniel's entry as awesome, but that doesn't mean his was the only one we liked. Our runner up came extremely close to winning, so let's all give a huge round of applause to Zhen Yu Li and his submission:

I am a poor boy living the the poor country of Greenland. Because we are so poor, the only way to entertain outselves is by starting wars. To earn money and help with the war, I'm working as a flamenco dancer at the local lighthouse. Yes, I'm sure you've figured out my plan by now. Using the DSL as a castanet, I will be able to dance and light the lighthouse. Every click of my beautifully lit castanets will not only enchance the audience, but I'm also sending out morse code to the military to alert them of enemy activity!

Finally, we've got our second runner-up, Nate C., who brought in the help of our old pal Captain N to play along with his entry:

Captain N recently replaced his NES controller belt buckle with a DS lite. Our protector against the Forces of Chaos explained this change:

“I think all crime fighters should have one. Dracula had me on the ropes the other day--until I turned the screens on to their highest setting. The fool thought the sun had come out! Afterwards Simon put an order in from Lik-Sang.

“Besides the screens, the improved stylus can be a potent projectile. Mother Brain has come to fear it!

“And best of all, customs never gives me grief about such an innocent looking device!"

There are a ton of people to thank for this contest. Firstly, there's Nintendo, for designing such a great new DS. Secondly, we've got Lik-Sang, who was charitable enough to give away a DS Lite. Lastly, thanks must be given to everyone who submitted an entry. We could only pick one, and only a few made it on-site, but everyone who participated is a winner in my eyes!

See you at the next contest!
