Twin Galaxies’ Video Game Festival

Video Game Festival at Mall of America to Host $1,000 Console Championships Sponsored by Midway, Atlus Games and Sega of America

FAIRFIELD, IA- July 5th, 2002 - Video gamers young and old alike will enter video game heaven at the Mall of America on the weekend of July 12-14, as the 2nd Annual Twin Galaxies' Video Game Festival turns the Sam Goody Center into a 5,000 square-foot video game arcade.

Now in its 2nd year, the Festival is a three-day celebration of the greatest games and gaming systems produced in the last twenty years, from the legendary Pac-Man arcade game of the early 80s to today's hot new Playstation 2 and X-box game titles.

The public is invited and everything is on free play -- plus, there is no admission charge.

Created by the editors of the Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records, the Festival will give the public a chance to play great new home game titles even before they hit the stores.

Big contests on brand new games like Midway's MLB Slugfest 20-03, Atlus' SkyGunner, Sega's Crazy Taxi 3 and Midway's Red Card Soccer 20-03 will give top video gamers the chance to take home cash prizes and fun souvenirs.

And, thanks to the support of Midway Home Entertainment, the main sponsor of the Festival, the top two winners of the MLB Slugfest 20-03 contest will take home a bat or jersey signed by Major League Baseball star Alex Rodriguez.

PlanetGameCube.com, a leader on the Internet for the Gamecube community, will conduct championships on the very popular Super Smash Brothers Melee and Super Monkey Ball. See schedule at PlanetGameCube.com

Plus, the champions of all these contests will be listed in the Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records. Walter Day, editor of the Book of Records, says: "The contests being conducted for Crazy Taxi 3, MLB Slugfest 20-03, SkyGunner and Red Card Soccer 20-03 are considered significant "World Championships," therefore the winners will be featured in the forthcoming edition of the official record book."

Open every day from 11-9:00 PM (except Sunday 12-7PM) in the Mall's Sam Goody Center, the Festival will include many attractions, including Arcade Alley, a selection of vintage pinballs and video games from the 1970s and 80s, modern virtual reality games like Konami's MoCap Golf and a host of legendary video game stars eager to share their secret gaming tips with Festival attendees.
