Here we are with yet another brand spanking new episode of Connectivity. Your second for the year 2014, in fact. We are re-ringing in the new year with two fantastic segments.

First up, we gaze into the future and preview all of the major games announced for the year so far. Will there be good ones? What about bad ones? Is Bayonetta 2 ever going to be released? Find out all these things and more!

After that, everybody's favorite segment returns. Josh stumbles back into that abandoned studio to once again find Kim and Becky. The three of them do their thing and play yet another round of Name That Pokémon. Just remember, Josh is always right.

Do you have a favorite Pokémon? Or maybe just a question you'd like us to answer? We could really use some of those. Make it your new year's resolution to send us listener mail by clicking here. And you should rate and review the show on iTunes too!

This week's episode edited by Mike Sklens.

Talkback

Zach, go play some Final Fantasy 5 and revel in the fact that Lenna's pixelated tatas hang out when she's a berserker. Then you'll like Job Systems.

Honestly, though, I played Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XI for several years and those leverage SO heavy on their job systems. I am -SO- playing that Bravely Default demo when my 3DS gets repaired!

There are two big reasons to look for Umihara Kawase release on eShop. Look it up.

Also, Bayo 2 was in already works and even planned to be released sometime in 2013 or even 2012 until Sega quietly cancelled it. So we should expect to see it released this year.

In one of the interviews Kamiya mentioned how development of both games went more or less head to head and both teams sharing the same big area, were looking at what other team is doing and kept trying to one-up each other in crazyness and outrageousness of the action.

Yeah, Bayonetta 1 was a bomb, no wonder Sega canned the sequel...

By March 31, 2010, Bayonetta sold 1.35 million units worldwide.

Whoops. (That's from Wikipedia, sourcing Sega's financial statements.) If it does half that on WiiU, Nintendo's probably coming out ahead.

I tried to play some DQIX after the show. Holy crap, that game looks terrible. Has the 3DS really spoiled me this much?

Also, my 2DS is now basically my DS Lite.

I hope you guys give the Bravely Default demo another chance.  Once I realized a couple of battles in that you need to go into BP deficit right away with your party to win made it much easier to manage.  The town management aspect is like streetpass Actraiser and I found the graphics, music, and job system a lot of fun.

I've noticed the same thing of late.  I think for me it's the same reason I could never get into the Playstation after getting an N64, the pixels and textures jump all over the place compared to the 3DS.  The cause is different iirc (PS1 didn't have a z-buffer and the method of texture mapping) but the result is the same.

Although I really like the BP system in major battles, it does annoy me some in smaller ones.  Either I do 2 or 3 rounds, or I brave > brave > brave > brave > attack > attack > attack > attack > brave > brave...  Auto battle or auto bravel all/ attack all would be greatly appreciated.

I am now painfully aware of my lack of knowledge of the Unova Pokédex.

Josh, Becky and Kim have almost raised Name That Pokémon to the level of performance art.  ;) I'm far from a Pokémon expert (i'm mostly limited to the first 151), but I get alot of fun out of it. If you ever get tired of it, ya'll should come up with some game show for another theme you three are into.

Perhaps you could switch the roles around even. Imagine if Kim were in charge. Kim: Josh, you're starting with a -9 score! Becky: When Josh said in episode 114 "Do it now!", I wasn't going to use that knife Kim. I was just holding it to keep it warm! It looked like it needed a friend! Don't destroy me!!"
