The Rarest StreetPass Puzzle in the World

JC goes on a a real StreetPass quest!

OK, it's official - I'm a StreetPass addict.

Last weekend I went to Haneda Airport, central Tokyo, for the purpose of getting an exclusive puzzle piece to complete my collection. I managed to convince my wife by telling her about an awesome burger restaurant there, plus the fact that lil JC (Editor's Note: he means his baby, not his inner child) loves planes and could watch them to his heart's content!

It's actually pretty easy to find the place, found on the second floor of Terminal 2. I pushed passed all the Japanese people lining up to go to Hawaii, to go straight to the 3DS station. The Nintendo Zone is always there, but this puzzle is time limited, and will stop being distributed on September 30. This is different from the other commercially sponsored puzzle, from McDonald's, which as far as I know will always be available. Note: You must get the first piece via SpotPass, then you can start getting the rest as usual.

I don't know how I feel about this way of distributing new puzzles. On one hand, it's cool to get new puzzles that you can't get anywhere else, and gets people going to places they'd never usually go, kind of like a huge real life location-based quest. On the other hand though, these are huge corporations promoting their goods/services and I understand some people might not like being advertised to like that. Then again, this is optional and you never get told about it. Even when you StreetPass someone with a puzzle you don't have, it just comes up as "?????".

It would be cool if they served a dual purpose though, maybe have a barcode as part of the puzzle that when scanned in you get discounts off stuff. If that were to happen, I hope a donut shop does a puzzle.

Anyway, here is a short video of me getting (as of recording) the rarest StreetPass puzzle in the world!

Congrats on that.  Wish I was in a more densely populated area that Streetpass/Spotpass actually had some effectiveness in my area.  As it is, I only know one 3DS owner in my area.  It'll get boring after a while with us doing all the passing between each other I think when I get a 3DS.  Or maybe I just don't understand how it all works.

I've been extemely disappointed with the number of streetpass hits I get in America. I travel alot and always bring my DS. While wandering through the airports of San Jose and San Francisco several times the last few months I'm lucky to get one streetpass (usually from Japan!). I've walked my kids to school with the DS in my pocket every day this year and have never gotten one. Maybe the kids aren't allowed to bring it to school? I think it is more often that the terrible battery life makes the 3DS much less portable than it was in the day. The only time I've really gotten a lot of streetpasses is when I parked my car for the day in front of a Gamestop when I was at a hotel convention. I got 4! Woo hoo.
Also, I'm being driven crazy by the fact that I have two pieces left for 3 puzzles and have spent the past six months purchasing duplicates of every other piece all around it. These are NOT the pink pieces. I'd much rather spend 10 or 20 coins to get one I need.

I think I found your problem...DS doesn't support StreetPass. Try carrying your 3DS with you instead. :-P

Yeah, most schools discourage bringing electronics nowadays. Less and less students bring their handhelds - which suits many of them fine as they just game on their iPhones anyways. I actually have more luck at train/subway stations and at grocery stores. ...also, there's a Streetpass Community in my area, which boosts the amount of Streetpass hits by a ton. Try to see if your area has one too.

As for battery life, you seriously need to look into this: http://amzn.com/B005NJ2UEW - it is THE best 3rd party battery out there. 3D on max? Sound at its highest? Wireless on? Brightness 3-5? Lasts 10 hours.
It adds bulk and heft for the 3DS, but it's DEFINITELY worth it.

Its a real shame this is ONLY for Japan. I should be able to street pass anyone from the world and get panels they have. I was at comic con a few months ago and I passed somebody from japan and it has ???? panel, and was very frustrated that I couldn't get that puzzle.

I love the idea of custom panels from different places. Have a gamestop one, have a burger king one,  maybe for places here in the US and have them be special events. Superbowl one, political conventions you get your own Obama or Romney panel from the convention floor.

Have it worldwide and London could have had a olympic sponsored one. The ideas are endless

The only place I can consistently get Street Passes in my town is the mall. I carry my 3DS around with me everywhere (I'm about to hit 4 million steps on the 3DS pedometer) and yet it's still a big deal when I actually get one. If I go to the mall and walk around for an hour, I'll normally get 2-3, although there have been times when I've been shut out at the mall. I like Street Passing so much, that I've started going to the mall, just for that reason. I'll try to go once on the weekend during the busy time.

I spend all of my coins on puzzle pieces and probably only have 5 or 6 normal pieces left that I don't have. I think I have all the puzzles available in America unlocked. However, unless Nintendo changes the way you can get the pink pieces, I'll never complete most of them. While it's hard to Street Pass, it's even harder getting lucky enough to Street Pass someone that has puzzle pieces available.

You guys need to spend a week or 2 in Japan! My friend did and completed every puzzle and StreetPass Quest 1+2 easily in that time! :)

Or, like AttentiveDistraction suggested, check to see if there are any communities nearby.

Also, I like Mr Vega's ideas for puzzles, hehe  ;D
