While there are some nifty space shooters on the Wii U eShop, your options for 3D flying experiences are rather slim. Outside of the various versions of Star Fox, you have to look elsewhere for bigger offerings. This is the perfect hole for Futuridium EP Deluxe to jump into and fill the niche that others left behind. Luckily for Wii U owners who haven't experienced it elsewhere, it fills that niche perfectly.

Futuridium EP Deluxe sees you flying through space and shooting at the blue blocks that are spread around the environment. By destroying them all, you clear the stage and move on the next one. The game will see you turning around, making sharp moves and avoiding some heavy obstacles along the way. While there is a limit to the space you can move around in every level, this isn't without reason. You need to stay in line and do your tasks within a certain time limit. Your energy bar is constantly depleting, and it depletes even more if you go on the higher speed setting. You need to go back and forth, and find the perfect balance to complete your objective.

Personally I just had fun touring across the courses. It feels fast, fun and above all addictive. Futuridium EP Deluxe doesn't overcomplicate matters and gives you the basic tools to work with. There is a button to speed up, a button to shoot and the control stick. You learn it all with ease, though there is a problem with depth perception. I would make some really bad calls from time to time, which resulted in my mission's end. You get the hang of that with time, but it will annoy in your first few runs.

Futuridium EP Deluxe features 50 stages to play through. They need to be defeated in sets of ten to progress, which isn't an easy task. Even if you do make it, you have only seen half of what the game offers. You will be able to play every stage separately and complete challenges on every one, which will keep you busy for a while longer. Next to that, it becomes important to string stages together and put together one massive score that will overcome everybody else. That is, in my opinion, the true ultimate goal in the game. That, and enjoying the excellent presentation. Both the graphic style and audio come together incredibly well.

Futuridium EP Deluxe is a really interesting space shooter puzzle hybrid that works flawlessly. You will need to learn to manage depth perception, which can be incredibly screwy if you don't take your time and learn. Once you know what to do, 50 increasingly hard stages will await you. They will push you to the limit in a race to save your spaceship. Making mistakes isn't an option and acting fast is your main task. Futuridium is fun through and through, and it deserves your download sooner rather than later.
