This week was BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) week in the UK. Awards were presented for television, film and interactive entertainment. The Interactive awards have been running for four years now and many of the awards have been won by the games industry.

The successes this year include Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 for GBA winning the award for Games – Mobile and Conker’s Bad Fur Day taking Sound.

Rare have done outstandingly well at the Interactive Awards, winning Best UK Developer and awards for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark over the years. Conker has held Rare’s place at the awards for another year and with GameCube titles following such as StarFox Adventures it wouldn’t be wrong to expect the company’s presence at the next awards.

The other nominees for Games – Mobile were Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Battlemail Kung Fu, an SMS game. Tony Hawks was chosen for the hundreds of tricks you can perform and the appeal of the game even to people who are not interested in skateboarding.
