Iwata Hopes 3DS Stimulates Games Sales 3DS

According to the Nintendo executive, poor video game software sales should be blamed on the quality rather than the poor economy.

In an interview with VentureBeat, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata commented on poor video game software sales. According to him, the economic recession isn’t the real reason why video games are selling poorly. “I cannot say that the recession has no effect on the sales of video games,” Iwata stated.

GoldenEye Details Confirmed, Not a Remake Wii

The new GoldenEye 007 for Wii will be a new experience, with inspiration and nostalgic elements from the N64 title.

In a game demo with the GoldenEye developers during E3, we asked Eurocom's Julian Widdows about how the game came into existence and how it compares to the original movie and N64 title. Iwata on Making the Nintendo 3DS a “Serious Gamer” System 3DS

In an interview with Nikkei, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata stressed that the Nintendo 3DS will appeal to the core gamers that might have abandoned Nintendo platforms. Nintendo Underestimates Art Academy Demand in Japan

Nintendo’s new classroom painting game has been severely under-shipped in Japan.

The Art Academy titles released for the Nintendo DSiWare service last year have had a strong following, with many gamers regularly using the application to paint their own pictures and share them with friends. In Japan and Europe, Nintendo saw the appeal for the game and decided to turn it into a retail game, which hit Japan last week.

Yesterday we reported that Xenoblade fell out of the top spot in Japan’s sales chart, giving it up to Super Mario Galaxy 2. The 3D remakes for Final Fantasy V and VI ran into technical problems, but might see a return on 3DS.

The Final Fantasy V and VI DS remakes are currently on hold, according to Square Enix's Shinju Hashimoto in an interview with SiliconEra.

Hashimoto said the two games ran into technical problems, and with the advent of the 3DS, Square Enix decided to temporarily pull the plug on development.

One of the questions gamers had about PDP's upcoming Headbanger Headset - a Wii Speak replacement - was whether or not it would be compatible with existing games that utilize Wii Speak.
