Nintendo May Cut Earnings Forecast

The gaming market leader may be looking at their first annual profit decline in six years.

A combination of factors, including a decline in Wii console sales and the strengthening of the yen, may bring Nintendo to cut its earnings forecast and report its first annual profit decline since the fiscal year ended March 2004. Bloomberg reports that, in the consensus opinion of analysts, Nintendo's net income might fall as much as 11 percent to 249.3 billion yen ($2.7 billion) this fiscal year.

Nintendo to launch black console bundle and controllers in Europe later this year.

Recently Nintendo of Europe announced that they will release a limited edition black Wii Console bundle in Europe. This bundle will include a black Wii console, black Wii Remote, black Nunchuk, black Wii MotionPlus, Wii Sports, and Wii Sports Resort. Nintendo has also announced that the black Classic Controller Pro will be released in Europe as well.

Former NWR staff members Nick and Chessa DiMola are throwing a Halloween-themed marathon for charity.

Our friends at PixlBit have informed NWR that they hosting a Halloween-themed video game marathon for charity this weekend. The marathon will consist of three survival horror titles, Resident Evil (GameCube), Eternal Darkness (Gamecube), and Fatal Frame III: The Tormented (PlayStation 2). Viewers are encouraged to donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital in support of the marathon.

Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Jenga, and Operation. There's nothing else you could possibly ask for.

Coming soon from EA is Hasbro Family Game Night 2, a collection of family games featuring Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. There are five games in all, including Operation, Connect 4x4, Jenga, Pictureka, and Bop It!.

Nintendo has released a brand-new gameplay trailer for New Super Mario. Bros Wii. Even more four-player gameplay is shown, along with power-ups including the Ice Flower (which freezes enemies into a big block of ice that can be used as a weapon) and the Penguin Suit (which allows players to slide around the stage).

Square Enix Posts Results of its DQ IX Public Quest DS

The online quest was successful in gathering player data.

Square Enix has shared the stats from their first online co-operative quest in Dragon Quest IX. A month ago, the company asked players to submit their player data via Nintendo Wi-Fi, with 500,000 submissions being the desired goal. Once players reached the total, they would receive a special visit from Dragon Quest Sword's French mage Fleurette.

A song from Bon Jovi's latest album will be used to advertise Square Enix's next big Wii title in Japan.

Square Enix has announced that they will be using Bon Jovi's latest single, "We Weren't Born to Follow", in their Japanese television commercials for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. In the past, Square Enix has typically used songs from Asian artists to advertise their releases.
