Backed by the ESA, publishers Atari, EA, and Vivendi-Universal sue 321 Studios for violating copyright protection laws.

Yesterday, Atari, EA and Vivendi-Universal filed a law suit against the creator of the game copying software Games X Copy. Citing its history of software products designed to circumvent copyright protection measures, the companies accuse 321 Studios of violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which makes any attempt to reverse-engineer or otherwise circumvent copyright protection technologies illegal.

Nintendo's got a new survey and wants your feedback.

That's right, more tactical love for the GBA.

The latest issue of the popular Japanese gaming magazine, Shonen Jump, has revealed the first info on a brand new Fire Emblem game for the Game Boy Advance. The sub-title of the new game is "The Shining Stones of Good & Evil." The story, understandably, will involve two stones which are diametrically opposed.

Japanese drummers can get their hands on both song discs and the Konga in one lovely package.

On July 1, when Nintendo releases Donkey Konga 2: Hit Song Parade in Japan, the second song disc for Donkey Konga, they will also be releasing a special bundle set.

Nintendo of Japan will be celebrating the simultaneous release of Donkey Konga 2 and Donkey Kong Country 2 with a special contest. Gamers who pick up either of the games can enter to win a special "Donkey SP" Game Boy Advance SP system. Each game comes with a contest entry form. Gamers can send in the forms for a chance to win one of 1000 limited edition Donkey SP systems. The system is colored yellow with maroon buttons. Here's a picture.

Tom Clancy strikes again on GameCube with next week's release of Rainbow Six 3. See the trailer now, including plenty of in-game footage of the GameCube version.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 will finally arrive on GameCube next week, and we have the new trailer from Ubisoft. The trailer is about half CG, half gameplay, with all footage shot from the new GameCube version of the game. This is the first time the game has been shown in motion; it wasn't even on display at E3 last month.

According to a report from The MagicBox Nintendo has officially launched their handheld Game Boy Advance console in the nation of China on June 8th. The system is currently being sold for 9248 Yen, or about $84 in American currency. It is being distributed by the iQue company.

Nintendo talks about the state of the industry (again) and drops a few tidbits on what's coming in the future.

Nintendo held a media briefing today, and outlined the company's strategy. Japanese magazine and website Famitsu has covered the event extensively and Planet GameCube is currently awaiting news from out Japanese Correspondent on it. In the mean time, Reuters has also covered the event, although with less details.

Nintendo has updated the Japanese website for Donkey Konga 2: Hit Song Parade. The game's trailer, which is about a minute long, is now available for download. The zany short shows people slamming the congas and having a grand old time. It also showcases a few of the songs from the game's library. For your convenience, the trailer can be found right here.

This TV ad explains what's going on with the weird duo of cross-franchise platformers.

Vivendi Universal Games has provided us with their TV commercial for Crash Purple and Spryo Orange, the publisher's two new GBA platformers. The idea is that Crash has invaded Spyro's world and vice-versa. Both games are available now in North America, and PGC will have further coverage on them very soon.

Nintendo's biggest official memory card yet has quietly slipped onto store shelves.

Despite no official announcement so far, the Memory Card 1019 is now available in many stores, including Nintendo.com's online store. The card provides 8 MB of storage for your GameCube, at an MSRP of $29.99 USD. For comparison, the Memory Card 1019 is four times as large as Memory Card 251 and 16 times as large as the original Memory Card 59.

Zelda DS Confirmed.

GameSpy has posted a new interview with Zelda director Eiji Aonuma. The interview covers Aonuma's life, views on videogames, and also what he's currently working on. Among other things he mentions his fear of jumping in videogames and the fact that he is currently working on a Legend of Zelda title for the forthcoming Nintendo DS handheld.

Ubisoft's official Prince of Persia 2 website has updated with the game's E3 trailer. The sequel is much darker and more violent than its predecessor, as the movie shows. Unfortunately, the trailer contains no gameplay footage, but the CG movie should give you an idea of what to expect from the game. We've mirrored the file on our media server, in case the official site gets bogged down with traffic.
