Factor 5 Focuses on Next Generation DS

Factor 5 announces it will no longer support the GameCube, turning its attention to next generation consoles and handhelds.

Thirty DS Titles at E3 DS

Reports out of Japan state that Nintendo will have thirty titles on display for its new handheld at E3.

Magazine publisher Enterbrain reported earlier today that Nintendo was the top game publisher last year, selling more than 6.5 million games. It's closest competitor was Square, which sold approximately 4 million units.

We have some screens and information on Rainbow Six 3. 15 missions with a plot based on "today's headlines" are played with 4-man teams, which you can see in the screens. Included also is a 2-player split-screen cooperative mode. Controlling teammates is done with a "Quick Order Interface." The latest build of one of the GameCube's online play clients is getting the once-over.

The latest version of Warp Pipe, codenamed "Megaton," has begun the testing phase. The GameCube tunneling compter program for use on Windows, Mac and Linux systems allows GameCube users to play the handful of LAN-supported games for the system over the internet through computers, provided they have a fat enough pipe to do so.

Whatever it will eventually be called, we now know that it won't be named the Nintendo DS.

When Nintendo first annouced its new gaming device, it was named the Nintendo DS. Everyone took this name and ran with it, of course, since we had nothing better to call it at the time. Then, we stumbled upon another possible name for the system, Nitro. Nintendo quickly quashed this name and replaced it with the more common Nintendo DS.

Fire Emblem for GameCube Revealed! GC

Nintendo's epic strategy RPG comes to the Cube.

The Shonen Jump magazine in Japan has pulled the wraps off the first GameCube installment of Nintendo's mega-hit strategy/RPG franchise Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem recently broke out of Japan with a release of the newest title in the series on Game Boy Advance here in the US. The series is now making the jump to GameCube. The new title features an isometric camera view on a 3D medieval styled world.

Nintendo Announces Free Japanese Seminars

Qualified students in Japan can get quality instruction from designers at Nintendo at no cost.

Nintendo is currently taking applications for student attendees for game seminars, seeing it as an "ideal chance for you to experience game design in an environment not found in standard student life." The seminars will be given from June until the end of next March, meeting once a week for three hours to address topics such as design, environmental elements, GBA development, etc.
