Iwata confirms Donkey Konga

Import retailer Lik Sang is reporting today that Satoru Iwata, NCL President, has confirmed the development of Donkey Konga with the help of Namco.

The game will use a drum peripheral, similar to the one Namco used for their last Conga game, Taiko no Tatsujin.

Nintendo Targeting China

Even though it's one of the world's piracy hotspots, Nintendo still wants to enter the Chinese market.

Nintendo's total worldwide GameCube shipment total is around the 10 million mark, which is on pace with Microsoft and far behind Sony, which has PS2 shipments upwards of 50 million. Because of the GameCube's lackluster sales, Nintendo is looking to enter a new market to help make up some sales.

Perhaps our most in-shape staff member *cough*DDR*cough* Ty Shughart has now become 22, which is the same backwards as forwards. It's hard to say whether the Internet has greatly influenced his speech or whether it's his presence that's corrupted the rest of us. @_@

Nintendo Australia today confirmed that Animal Crossing would be coming to Australia. Here's the official word from Nintendo:

We've got the final code for WrestleMania XIX sitting here at the Seattle PGC office, and it's looking to be fantastic. If you've been seeing more game ads on television and in retail establishments, you're probably not alone. In the second quarter of the calendar year, software advertisments shot up 77% and hardware ads increased 55%, compared to the same period last year. In addition, ads for full-priced $49.99 games have been getting more exposure, taking up more of the advertising pipeline (40%) than the $19.99 budget titles.

Nintendo Reports Profit Despite Low GameCube Sales GC

Nintendo has a lot of money, have sold a lot of GBAs, and has a lot of GameCube inventory. One of these is not good for the company.

In a quarterly financial statement, Nintendo is reporting that it has made a profit of ¥11.5 billion ($95 million) in the April-May-June period, almost all in part to the skyrocketing sales of the Game Boy Advance. Oddly enough, this is the first time that Nintendo has disclosed its quarterly earnings report, normally waiting until the end of the year before revealing any of its financials.
