Mark your calendar...in blood.

Capcom USA has confirmed with PGC that Resident Evil 4's release date has been set for January 11th, 2005 in North America. Although many of our readers will likely see this date as a delay, Capcom was quick to point out that it lies within the previously announced "winter" release window.

Online retailers have been estimating early 2005 release dates for the game for a few weeks now, as we have previously reported. This official date is closer than many of the retailer estimates, some of which put the game into February or March of the new year.

Guess I'm wrong and surprised. ( I posted earlier that delaying RE 4 was a bunch of balderdash...)

Though it seems to be a habit now for Capcom to continually deny rumors, saying its a bunch of hooey, only to confirm it a while later. First Viewtiful Joe coming to PS2, Killer 7 to PS2, now this. They should just say "We don't comment on rumors" instead of just saying "No, Viewtiful Joe is exclusive to the 'Cube. Really....," and "No, RE 4 will make its 2004 release date. Trust us...." Not commenting is one thing, but denying initial rumors and confirming them later? Whatever...

It looks like some other lucky games will garner consideration then.

Im really suprised that both Capcom and Nintendo didnt try to at least get the game out for a late November/early December release so that Nintendo would have a big holiday title to go against the new GTA and Halo 2. Then again, the more time this game gets, the better it'll be. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Don't forget Starfox 2 (NOV 29) & Mario Tennis (DEC 6). And if Mario Party is innovative with it's whole don't need a controller to play it thing, then add that one too (DEC 6).

I remember when Resident Evil 2 came out on January 21 of 1998, me and my two friends all picked it up the day of with our Xmas money, and it did very well all over the country, this is good news in my book.

No, forget StarFox 2. Or, at least forget its weak 3rd-person-shooting elements.
