Go download it!

NES Remix, a new downloadable eShop game, is now available on Wii U in North America and Europe.

The game features several NES games remixed to include new challenges as well as challenges featuring other NES characters, presented in a rapid-fire format similar to WarioWare. The stages themselves are pulled directly from their original games, and presented in new ways.

NES Remix features a Miiverse stamp system similar to Super Mario 3D World and allows players to post their best times.

The game retails for $14.99 in the US.

Talkback

Video footage had a slight WarioWare feeling with gameplay changing constantly. Hopefully that's the case for actual game -- i would be like 9-Volt minigames.

ToruresuDecember 18, 2013

I can't find it on the Eshop :(

SorenDecember 18, 2013

It's $15. No thanks.

I'll need to check this out.  Sounds like something up my alley, if azeke's observations are true.

$15 ...
That's a bad price. $10 be my upper reach on a game like this.

ejamerDecember 18, 2013

Agree with the general consensus - somewhat interested, but without hearing more not keen on dropping $15 for a set of NES-based microgames.  If it were $10 then I'd probably be willing to give it a shot.

Not a big deal: now that Nintendo is offering sale pricing for eShop content I'll just hold off until it hits a price point I'm willing to pay.

Leo13December 18, 2013

I might buy it. I want to see a little more info about it first, but I can certainly see myself buying this.

Besides WarioWare, this reminds me of ROM Check Fail

azekeDecember 18, 2013

I'm watching the videoand it's definetely similar to 9–Volt games from WarioWare. It's probably was made by Nintendo SPD guys.

After watching that video, if you buy this game for $14.99, Nintnedo should offer you all the games inside for $0.10 each if you beat the entire game and/or for $0.50 each game challenge tree you complete.

That's incentive and achievement award all in one.

It looks interesting, but not $15 interesting (unless they include perks like above ;)).

God damn it BNM I misread that and thought Nintendo was offering that. Just deleted my nice post.

LOL. but they really should. Then I would definitely be more interested. not only in buying it, but actually playing it till completion.

"Nintendo, do something different! Wha - you want us to pay for it? Screw you guys!"

AdrockDecember 18, 2013

No one expects it to be free. It looks fun, just not $15 fun. I may pick it up on sale.

Leo13December 18, 2013

What are you talking about this is something unique and different. I'm excited for this game. Yes I also wish it was $8, but I also wish 3D World was $2. I always want my games cheaper. However, I have no problem paying $15 for this it looks like a lot of fun. I'll get more enjoyment out of this than I will going to a movie and this is cheaper.

Trying something different is good, but I don't know why you are confusing being different with providing value. This is a cute idea. It looks neat. But if I'm spending $15 on a digital game, NES Remix is certainly not at the top of my list.

That said, how different is this really? Nintendo trying to cash in on nostalgia for old NES games (most of which aren't that much fun to replay now, and have already been pushed on Virtual Console multiple times) with expanded versions of WarioWare-style mini games?  Doesn't sound quite as different or unique as you are selling.

I'm really not down on the game, but after sitting through a big portion of the YouTube video my thoughts are confirmed: the gameplay being offered is not worth $15 to me.  In fact, after seeing more I'm not questioning whether it's even worth $10 to me - especially when there are so many great games with all new content available for less from sources like the eShop or Steam.

If you are excited about the game and think it's worth the money, more power to you though!

The fact that this game is designed by the same guys who did Retro Game Challenge means I have a download in progress.

Dylan7December 18, 2013

Picked this up half an hour after the Nintendo Direct. It's $13AU here and I think it's quite a reasonable price.

I like what they've done with this, something a bit different but familiar at the same time. I wouldn't go out and get most of these NES games on the Vitural Console - unless I could get then for 30 cents like I did Balloon Fight - but this package has me enjoying some classics again.

Nostalgic and fresh - good fun.

I'm happy to see I'm not the only one that really likes this game

After playing it, I can confirm that it is unlike anything I've played from Nintendo before. Like mushing some NES franchises into an indie "challenge style" game. So it's...different!

Value is certainly subjective, but considering I've dropped $15 on eShop games and indie games like this before the price didn't terribly surprise me and I'm willing to pay it. I guess I was just surprised that the majority of comments on here were negative. The amount of content is on par with other $15 games. I was excited!

But I am enjoying this game. I love the bite-sized challenges and how they've made some of the mundane games fun and interesting. It's fun and I'd recommend it.
