Luigi won't be celebrating Halloween in 2012.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon has been delayed in North America to the first half of 2013.

The follow-up to the GameCube launch title was originally scheduled for a Q4 2012 release according to information revealed at E3 2012. In a press-release in which Nintendo detailed the remainder of their 2012 3DS lineup, the company noted that the game will now be releasing in the first half of 2013. No reason was given for the delay.

The delay of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon creates a substantial hole in the 3DS 2012 line-up, leaving Paper Mario: Sticker Star, releasing on November 11, 2012, as the lone marquee first-party title for the handheld.

My most anticipated title of the year now postponed...  :'(

Aww man, oh well what can you do?

I KNEW IT!!!

Seriously though, I really thought that at least one of these games would get delayed, and it turns out it was this one. I'm not TOO upset, though, because as long as Paper Mario comes out, I'll be fine.

Nintendo you son of a.....
I was planning on getting this for Christmas!  :'(

Not really surprised. I remember hearing out of E3 2012 that when the game was announced in E3 2011, it hadn't been in development for very long at all and what was being shown was pretty much all Next Level Games had built up to that point. So I think the reason for the delay is that it's literally not finished.

At least Paper Mario: Sticker Star looks cool, and a return to form after the neat-but-flawed Super Paper Mario.

At least they are making the game better for release.

Awww...this has been my most-anticipated 3DS game since it was announced.  I'm surprised.  I thought it would make a great October release.  Based on the impressions from E3, the game seemed as if it were in a very polished state, but I know that this may not be the case.

It makes me wonder if Nintendo just doesn't have that many first-party irons in the fire on the 3DS side of things they're pushing this back until next year.

Luigi says:"No one cares about Luigi".... Well with that catchphrase you just know this will happen.

Figures. We haven't seen a whole lot of it. Stinks, but it it figures.

I'm actually glad to hear that they are holding the game off until it is ready, I feel like most of the 3DS games Nintendo have released could have used more time in the oven.

Not releasing this game on (or slightly before) Halloween 2012 is a huge opportunity lost. Imagine how much better sales would have been. Oh well...

Well people look at it this way we still have SMB2 and Angry Birds to play with and soon Paper Mario in November :D ;D

Glad0sAugust 17, 2012
