It would require a lot of "begging," though.

Characters from the Tales series could make an appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. title, according to Tales producers Makoto Yoshizumi and Yoshito Higuchi, who are both working on the next Super Smash Bros. game.

They "would love" for Tales characters to make an appearance In Super Smash Bros. However, Yoshizumi also noted that the final decision will be Sakurai's to make, saying, "maybe if we beg Sakurai-san, it will happen! I know Higuchi-san would love it, but the decision is Sakurai-san's. I think it's still too early to talk about it."

Yoshizumi also clarified that only characters who have appeared on a Nintendo platform can be considered for inclusion in a Super Smash Bros. game. This rule cuts down the number of games that could be represented quite a bit, with Tales of Symphonia as the obvious frontrunner. The other mainline games that could be included are Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Graces, Tales of Hearts, and Tales of Innocence.

The next installment of Super Smash Bros. was announced at E3 2011. The game is set to appear on both the Wii U and 3DS and will feature some amount of connectivity. During a Nintendo Direct broadcast this June, Nintendo announced that Namco Bandai will be developing the game and that series creator Sakurai will oversee the project.

It is for this reason that I really want skins to be a part of the next smash bros.

Why make Dr. Mario a clone of mario when you can just re-skin him (and his projectile)?

This way you could have a generic(generic meaning similar movesets) tales character, maybe lloyd, and then reskin him as Luke from abyss.  Two tales characters, one moveset, makes more fants happy.

This does not mean I personally want tales characters in the game, but if you did it, I'd rather it be one that can have different skins than to have multiple tales characters to make more fans happy.

Tales of Phantasia is also a potential source of "mainline" characters for the game, having received a GBA port towards the end of that handheld's life cycle as well as being a Super Famicom game in Japan.

All it takes is begging?

Clever, although I believe it'll come down to characters from the Symphonia titles. Or maybe Yuri from Vesperia since he appears in Project X Zone.

Not quite. If you've played both games, you will notice that except one or two techniques, Lloyd and Luke have a very different fighting style, mostly due to their choice of weapons (Lloyd uses dual blades and Luke fights single-handedly). This may seem like a good idea, but fans will definitely be picky about it.

I personally would prefer more fighters who don't use swords because we will most likely have Link and a Fire Emblem character (plus eventually Pit with his bow-knife-thing) as swordsmen. I'd go for Sheena from Symphonia and either Marta (DotNW) or Jade (Abyss).

Well, apparently Hideo Kojima begged Sakurai to put Snake in Melee, and now we finally have him in Brawl. Maybe since they're working with Sakurai, they can get a Tales character or two in Smash 4 by begging A LOT.

They better put Arche (from Tales of Phantasia) in. I hear she L-cancels like a tiger.

One character that I wish to be added is Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles, which is on the Wii.
