You'll be able to play the game's opening segment before the game comes out.

The Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D demo is coming to the eShop in North America on Thursday, Konami announced.

The full game comes out on February 21, and is a 3DS port of the PlayStation 2 title. While it's unknown if the demo will support the Circle Pad Pro, the full game will. The peripheral came out in North America on February 7 as a GameStop exclusive.

Europe is also receiving the demo on Thursday.

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D Nintendo eShop Demo Coming Soon

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., has announced a playable demo version of its eagerly-awaited METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER 3D for Nintendo 3DS™ will be available as a free download via the Nintendo eShop across North America on February 16th.

With the full version scheduled to be released in North America on February 21st, 2012, the METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER 3D demo will allow users to experience the immersion of exploring its incredibly detailed jungle setting. The demo showcases the opening segment of the game, with series hero Snake picking a path through the swamps and foliage of a Soviet jungle in search of an imprisoned scientist.

Players will also be able to experiment with the unique camouflage elements that allow Snake to blend in with his surroundings, and familiarize themselves with the close-quarters combat techniques used to quietly neutralize guards.

Awesome! I've been waiting for this demo.

You know, doing demos like this are a great idea! They did it with Resident Evil: Revelations and now with this game too. Nintendo should keep doing this. It gives everyone a chance to try the game and see if they like it or not. I really love Resident Evil: Revolutions and I'm looking forward to this one too.

Releasing a demo for this game seems like a horrible move on Konami's part, especially if it doesn't support the Circle Pad Pro that everyone who's played it seems to think is basically required.

Very much looking forward to this.  Haven't played an MGS since the first one on PSX but I could be tempted to dip my toes in here.

I miss stealth games =\

Think MGS2 or 4 could ever see release on 3DS?

I hope this is better than the awful E3 demo.

Well it can't be worse.

2, yes. 4? Slim to no chance unless they severely down-port it to the point that it's not even the same game.

is that such a terrible thing? I heard so many mixed reactions to MGS4... maybe "MGS4 REEEEEEmix" would be cool?  Something about needing better cutscene management comes to mind....

I'm pretty sure TJ was being rhetorical there, as I don't see there being any chance of that actually happening. They'd give the 3DS an original Metal Gear long before they'd port 4 to it.

@Insano

hmm, well that would certainly be nice too!
