PDP Unveils Headset for Wii

The first game to support the headset will be Conduit 2.

Those that have used Wii Speak know that it is a less-than-optimal solution for voice chat during online gaming sessions. PDP realized this and have created the Headbanger Headset, the first headset specifically for the Wii console.

According to PDP, Sega's Conduit 2 will be "one of the first titles" to support the peripheral. There's no word as to whether or not the headset will work with other prominent titles like Monster Hunter Tri or Animal Crossing, but NWR has contacted PDP for more details.

Special thanks to DAaaman64 for the news tip!

I'm pretty sure this is just Wii Speak in a headset, so it would work with everything else.

I would definitely hope so.  Wii Speak has aggravated me far beyond the most extreme limits while playing Monster Hunter Tri.  I'd love to have this thing for my Tri playthroughs.  Grrr...

I will be happy to use this product if it is superior to Wii Speak.

wait wait it's not wireless, i need to have a huge wire going from usb to my head. That is the impression I get from the picture... :-\ :-\

That cord had better be several feet long. By several I mean more then 5 feet.

I was afraid it wouldn't be wireless. But I'll take what I can get to not use WiiSpeak. They should release this early so I don't have to deal with it with MHTri.

Why can't Nintendo just release an update that allows USB microphones for computers and wireless blue tooth head sets to be used for the wii in place of wii speak?

The same reason they can't patch voice chat into older games: it's not systemwide; it's programmed into each individual game. They can't change games that are already out.

Aren't there some PlayStation 2 USB headsets that act as a WiiSpeak?  Did PDP just repaint some of their old PS2 stock for the Wii?
