The creators of The Conduit, High Voltage Software are working on bringing the famed Japanese character to Wii.
High Voltage Software along with publisher D3 announced earlier this week that they are working on a new game based on the upcoming CG film, Astro Boy for Wii.
While the team at High Voltage Software handles the Wii version, Art Co. will be handling the DS version. The game will be released in October to coincide with the release of the film. A Playstation 2 and PSP version will also be released.
Astro Boy, created by Osamu Tezuka, is the story of a robot boy living and fighting evil in a futuristic world. The television series broadcasted in Japan from 1963 to 1966 and is revered as one of the most influential anime series of its time.
This isn’t the first time the robotic hero has graced videogame consoles. In 2003 Sega published two games, a PlayStation 2 title created by Sonic Team and a Game Boy Advance version developed by Treasure. Both games were released to celebrate the latest Astro Boy re-incarnation in anime form.
The new CG animated feature film will be handled by Imagi Animation Studios, known for their work on TMNT, released in 2007.
