The wireless controller is a viable new option for players who enjoy the oldies on Virtual Console.

For the last twelve years Nyko Technologies has been creating third-party accessories for video game systems. Earlier this year, Nyko released the Kama wireless Nunchuk for the Wii. Nintendo sued Nyko because of extreme similarities between the Kama Nunchuk and the official Nunchuk. Nyko recently shipped to stores their newest accessory for Wii, the Wing wireless controller. Shaped very differently from Nintendo's Classic Controller, the Wing allows gamers to play through any Virtual Console game without the hassle of wires.

In addition to working with all Virtual Console games, the Wing is fully compatible with games that support the Classic Controller, such as Geometry Wars: Galaxies, Dokapon Kingdom, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Recent Nintendo controllers have had octagonal housings for their analog sticks, which has limited movement to eight directions. The analog sticks of the Wing feature a round housing, which makes a game like Nights: Journey of Dreams control more like its Sega Saturn precursor thanks to the sticks' unrestricted movement. Like the GameCube and Playstation 2 controllers, the Wing features handles to make it easier to grip. Racing fans who have long enjoyed pretending their controller was a steering wheel may find the Wing's lack of wires beneficial. Both the Kama Nunchuk and the Wing controller give players wireless freedom.

The Wing controller is available at retailers across the nation for $29.99. Batteries are included.

Talkback

"limited movement to eight directions" <<< Not quite right. What you mean to say is that players tend to fall into those notches when trying to make big circles. The stick certainly is not limited to eight directions in general.
