Taking a departure from the usual Transformers games that usually release alongside movie counterparts, this version is an original title based on the relatively new Transformers: Prime cartoon series. This Transformers game sports a vibrantly colored cartoonish look, which looks good in its trailer.
So far not much is known about the game but here's what we have nailed down. Prime is being developed by Nowpro, a Japanese development team who has worked on such titles as Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii, and more notable titles like Katamari Damacy for the PS2. The plot in Transformers Prime follows Team Prime's attempt to defeat the Decepticons, who have intercepted a strange meteor which was heading towards the Earth. Things take a turn for the worst when the Decepticons uncover an ancient power which could potentially help them destroy earth.
Aside from the main story, there will be a multiplayer battle mode which supports up to 12 players at once. Activision still has not disclosed whether or not this mode will be playable over the internet or restricted to local play. In the game's latest trailer, we can see both Autobots and Decepticons transform into their alternate forms, although it's still not clear if we will be able to do this at will.
Transformers Prime is due for release in North America on October 30for Wii, DS, and 3DS. A Wii U version will also become available at launch.
