This is why I'm eagerly awaiting the next Strawberry Shortcake. You may poo-poo it, but it's an honest-to-god 2D platformer. HEAVEN!

They should give up thinking up names for the Rabbids games and do it like sports games, name them after the year.

Lack of platformers really bother me since they are close to if not my favorite genre. They are being replaced by FPS, RTS and action games. That makes me sad :(.

I love platformers, 4 of my all time top 6 games are platformers. The nice thing about that for me is I never owned a SNES so the VC keeps giving me platformers that are new to me. Who knew that ignorance pays off after 15 years?

I think it'll be interesting to see how a third game does. To have 3 rayman games in what? 2 years? I think this kinda sets a precedent really, but after the first one being one of the top launch titles for the wii and the second getting a bit more than mediocre scores, I think a third one might harm them, especially coming out so quickly. Now the concept works. But I can't say how many more I've sold of the second game as I did see the first one being sold since I work at GameStop. But then sales at one store doesn't prove anything really. I honestly can't be too confident myself really though. I did enjoy the first one however.

The second one is getting more sales now than it did at launch. At least in PAL regions, it's broken into the all formats top 10. It's a better game than the first too, it has actual proper multiplayer. I think the franchise will get bigger rather than smaller. :)

^ Apparently coming (http://"http://www.videogamer.com/news/22-05-2008-8374.html") to Wii. (Although, from what I gather, it doesn't have a publisher yet.)

YES! a new rabbids game! i love the rabbids games because they are perfect stress relievers. Plus, i'm looking forward to the trailers for this new game. Rabbids 1 had the scientific facts advertisements and Rabbids 2 had Rabbids around the world. But i don't understand why they need to attach the Rayman name to it tho.

Yeah I think we're at the point where the Rayman name takes away sales rather than adds them. To this series at least.

Wasn't the GBA or DS "port" already a rabbids platformer?

Oh and I don't cry for Rayman, its always been a stupid collectathon. There are nice levels but the whole collecting really breaks it.

"Rayman" is actually "Rare" with different spelling.

Doesn't Rayman predate Rare's collectathon antics?

According to Wikipedia the first Rayman came out September 1st 1995, so the answer to that question depends on whether you consider Donkey Kong Country a collectathon or if that starts with DKC2, which came out in November of '95.

I was massively disappointed with the first Rabbids title, and felt it did far better than it deserved to do.  It relied to heavily on waggle that was often executed poorly and the "multiplayer" was a joke at best.

The continued milking of the supposed "franchise" is disheartening.  Ubisoft is treating the Nintendo platforms terribly.  The other systems get games like Prince of Persia and Beyond Good & Evil.  The Wii and DS get "stop smoking" and Dogz (Now with DS graphics!).

I don't recall DKC having any mandatory collectables. Sure, there's some bonus stuff but you don't need any of that to beat the game AFAIK. I think to beat Rayman 1 you have to find ALL cages which are often well-hidden.

The Rabbids games always seem on the verge of greatness. They're swelling with creativity, character, humor, innovation... yet they're lacking in some intangible glue of design to hold it all together. I've always had fun in the Rabbids games, but then again I've always felt like there was so much fun I WASN'T having at the same time.
