The results are similar, but the methods were quite different
Results from the weekend's Splatfest competition:
North America: Cars 252, Planes 248 36-54, 64-46 At Port Mackerel, Cars staged a furious comeback in the battle phase after losing the popularity poll by 14 points to bring Team Callie's North American record to 4-2. Worn down by civil wars, the Planes side was picked off by a group of experienced Cars battlers enough to lose the lead at the end.
Japan: Squid Sushi 254, Octopus Sushi 246 66-47, 34-53 In perhaps the most unsurprising popularity result yet, Squid jumped out to a big lead by popularity and did just enough in the battles to hold on for the win. Some observers were shocked that a game in which players play as squids (and kids) and shoot octopi only had the popularity score that low.
Europe/Australia will have their next Splatfest on 17-18 October, and the theme should be familiar to North Americans: Cats v Dogs, the first North American Splatfest, will make its way to the PAL regions.
