Title: Indie Studio Developing Rev Games
Post by: Karl Castaneda #2 on February 25, 2006, 07:46:45 AM
Crossbeam Studios Entertainment is on board the Revolution train with at least two games.

Nintendo's platforms haven't always been the first choice for smaller, independent developers, but this may soon be changing with the Revolution. Most recently, Crossbeam Studios Entertainment updated their About page to include that they're working on three new projects on various platforms, "most notable, Nintendo Revolution." Two games that have info so far, Orb and Thorn, seem to be action/adventure games with dark, moody themes.

The last game, Darkness, has not yet been expanded upon with info, and contains no platform confirmation. Check out The aforementioned games and the rest of Crossbeam Studios Entertainment here. Stay tuned to PGC as more info becomes available.

A big thanks goes to Mario from the forums for tipping us off.

I have a sick feeling they'll be swallowed by the ailing Midway or Atari and melt into the pit of obscurity.

" E3 2006.  [insert Midway or Atari] pushes the boundaries of gameplay and interaction with exciting new properties."

AUUUGH

Didn't Atari disband? I recently read somewhere that they are in big debt or something and had to sell themselves.

Atari is only Atari in name, aren't they actually Infogrames or something like that?

Once you go Atari, you'll never find success!

The only two good games that came out of infograms(atari) this gen are Ikaruga and Indigo Prophecy. The others are for the most part mediocre and/or crap.

16 people for three projects?  Quite ambitious!  This group seems to be the exact opposite of what Nintendo has historically required from developers to get dev kits.  I'm curious to see how things work out.

Atari australia distrubute dozens of gba and cube games every year in australia, without them it would pretty much just be nintendo made ame
would be so bland

A 16 person team getting a rev dev kit? This is fantastic news. In the past, Nintendo would only use small, yet unusually talented developers, when they thought it would be best to buy them out. This should mean we'll get more small-yet-talented western devs, which I think Nintendo has had a tendencey of overlooking.

If by dozens you mean about three GameCube games in the past two years~

No, the point is they do NOT have a dev kit.  Initially I thought they did, but comments in the company's forums suggest otherwise.

Indigo Prophecy was good!  Just had a lame ending.

And I thought Ikaruga was made by Treasure.

This is good news, if it's actually true.  The more support, the better.
